Motherboard and other general upgrade advice

I need some advice regarding upgrading my dad's computer. He is currently on an Athlon XP build. Here's what I've gotten him so far:

    Q6600 CPU
    2GB Mushkin PC8500 (1066MHz)

I'm looking at buying him this motherboard, would like some comments for it:

ASUS P5K - Dual DDR1066, Firewire, 2 PCI-E (it seems all boards have CrossFire or SLI nowadays)

I also need to buy him a video card as well as a power supply.

This is not a gaming computer by the way. He does video rendering and processing for the most part and some audio stuff. I'm not sure what video card to get him. I looked at these two:

    Sapphire X1650 256MB - $99cad
    eVGA 7600GS 256MB w/ passive heatsink - $95cad after $20rebate
    eVGA 8500GT 256MB - $85cad after $15 rebate
    eVGA 8600GT SuperClocked 256MB - $130cad after $20 rebate

I'm thinking getting the 8500 since my dad doesn't do gaming anyway and maybe he'll need DX10 in the future for Vista or something like that?

As for power supply, I'm thinking an Enermax 535W like the one I have, should be more than enough.

    All comments are welcome!

Re: Motherboard and other general upgrade advice

Dx10 is only useful for games. Vista runs fine on dx9 hardware. Unless your dad games, either the 7600 or x1650 will do. If he likes to connect the PC to a high def TV, or watch movies, etc.... maybe look at the ATI x2300 and x2600 sinc ethey support audio over HDMI.
