What is a good motherboard/CPU combo for overclocking?

Since I am going to get a new case from T_SKI, I now need something to put in it. I'm looking for an inexpensive CPU/Motherboard combo (like on TigerDirect.com or similar) that has good overclocking capabilities. As this is going to be just a box I build for fun, I don't want to spend alot of money on it. The only thing I need is DDR2 ram compatibility. Any Suggestions?? TIA!

    I'd look into this one:

    ECS NF650iSLIT-A

Looks to be a good overclocker and not that expensive. Match it up with a cheap C2D, something like a E4300 or E4400

It also depends on what you mean by cheap, this combo might not be cheap for you

    Checkout Ryan's review of it:

AMD is cheaper, Intel is better. And, yes, yes, I know that's a serious simplification. Which is more important?

if you want to overclock, ecs is not the way to go at the moment.

pick a price range and we can narrow things down.

I would like to stay around $150 to $200 for the Mobo and processor combined. TigerDirect has Numerous for less than $200. What do you think??

i can only speak on the amd side. i laid awake half the nite wondering whether i should have mentioned on board or not.

EVGA nForce 590 SLI NVIDIA Socket AM2

no limits on the board. i have the foxconn version.

another good choice but some limits.

    Biostar TForce 550 SE

    brisbanes are a good choice. i have a 3600 that touches 2900mhz.

    micro Biostar TForce 7050-M2

haven't studied this one but have the tforce 6100. you might want to go higher multi if you use the onboard.

voltage for ram on the biostars is about 2.17v with a jumper.

and yes an aftermarket cooler would be adviced if you max the cpu.

    hey ,

i can't find any flaws with the kn1 extreme.

can find a bunch with the ka3 and i see the intel 690 has acquired the ram voltage reduction also.

Let me put it to you this way,the other day I went to a retail Tigerdirect where I live to buy parts for a new rig build for a friend.
    I got him 2GB of DDR2 800 memory,they charged us 150$.........

On newegg it would have cost less then 90$ for that memory.
    Go figure
I even checked for same exact brand and model, was still cheaper, only 130$
