    Quad Processor or GTX?

So I'm thinking of building myself a new computer and have around a 1500 dollar limit. I game at 1680x1050 on a 22" monitor. I am going to be playing games like bioshock, crysis (when it comes out) and World in Conflict. Will I be better of going with the cheap Quad cpu and Gts 640mb combo or going with the Core 2 duo and a Nvidia 8800gtx video card? Which am I better off doing?

If I had to choose between the two I would go with a quad and a gts. Ultimate solution would be quad and gtx but buying a high end card at this point in time would be foolish thing imo. (unless it's dirt cheap) If the rumors are true Nv will have a new high-end part by November. What I would do if I were you I would buy a quad now and wait out till Nov. for the video card. Put the rest of the money away for another couple of months and maybe you can come up with a difference by then and get the very best, a 2nd gen. dx10 high-end card. Price should be no more than what we've already seen, $600usd or so. 9900GTX baby...

That's pretty much exactly what I did. I'm waiting for something better from Nvidia, I know they've got what I need, they just haven't made it yet.

Well I ended up going with the duo 6750 and a 8600gts to tide me over to the new ones that hopefully come out in November.

The E6750 is a fine choice. I've never seen how well the 8600gts performs so I hope it works well for you. I'm waiting for Crysis myself and World in Conflict.
I got Bioshock for the XBOX360 unexpectedly last week and it plays well so far.Every time I sit down to play iy the phone rings, someone is at the door so I've racked up a grand total of 30-35 mins of playing time.I am almost DX10 ready I got Vista now I just need another hard drive for my dual boot setup.

don't bother with the sli, sell the gts or gtx later and get a faster card. g92 is supposed to be out in novemeber, and sli'ing either of those cards is gonna need a pretty good sized psu adding to cost either now or later.

    plus g92 should be dx10.1.
