    Re: Battlefield 3

From what I gather, you select a server to join, loads the map while letting you continue to web browse. Average load time is reported as 20-30 seconds. Lets be honest, remember some of the load times for BF2 when it was first released? We're talking damn near 2 minutes for some maps.

Edit - You don't have to close the game to change servers, just alt-tab. If it works better than an in-game browser, I will not be disappoint.

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition pre-order (PS3, Xbox 360, or PC) for $48 with free shipping
    Newegg with code EMCYTZT688

    Origin Birthday Discount.
If you are creating a new account on Origin make your Bday a couple days after signup. You will get a 25% off coupon on your bday. Use that discount for BF3 pre-purchase.

I already have an EA account and my bday was Jul 4 however I did not receive my discount.

    Monster: i7 930, MSI X58 Platinum, 9GB Corsair, WD 74GB Raptor, WD 2TB, Palit GTX460 1GB, PCP&C 750W.

Note that the Newegg deal is LIMIT 1. I just tried to add 2 to my cart and it still only gives the $12 promo code discount. The prior $10 off promo deal at newegg didn't have that restriction and I was able to get $20 off the 2 copies I pre-ordered for Buu and myself. But obviously for most people the LIMIT 1 restriction isn't going to matter.

I was reading on the EA forums that some people are confused on if/how we will be able to pick soldier names in BF3.

    Found this on Techbargains.com:
    http://www.techbargains.com/news_dis...fm/266804?r1=1
Battlefield 3 PC Game (Preorder) $45.86 Digital Download
Ships 10/25. Direct2Drive has the highly anticipated Battlefield 3 Game (PC Digital Download) for preorder for a low $45.86 after Coupon Code: TECHBARG15 (Exp 9/16). Tax in most.
I've never used Direct2Drive but I assume it's legit? I'm sticking with my newegg pre-order unless it comes to Steam (before release) or Amazon adds a video game credit as an additional pre-order incentive.

Yeah, seems to be legit. I know a few people who use it over Steam or in addition to Steam.

    Re: Battlefield 3

I went back many pages in the BF3 thread and moved 89 posts related to BF3 not coming to Steam and the general Steam vs Origin discussion into a new thread here. All future discussion which is more related to Origin should go there.

All BF3 specific discussion should continue to go in this thread.

    This thread has been reopened.

    Re: Battlefield 3

So since were right up on beta release.

My rig ran bf3 alpha in the high 50's fps avg on what was high settings for the alpha. Generic settings (just high, medium and low.)

Saw 90%+ CPU usage at times . Though this wasnt the avg.

Just a heads up for you guys wanting to max it. Alpha wasnt even max settings.

Awesome. I guess the same happened to the COD bashing?

Still can't wait to pre-order it sometime. Why do they have to give us soooo many options? Thinking of going with Amazon's bonuses.

BC2 is fun but I miss the features in BF2 that will hopefully be back with BF3.

Will the frogs host their own server? I do hope that VOIP enabled servers will VOIP enabled players will be more common. Don't want to join a clan just got more of the "human" interaction out of a multiplayer game.
