    Re: Battlefield 3

    Good news...

After analyzing the data from our first round of closed Caspian Border tests, we have great news for participants in the Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta: the DICE team has decided to bring back Caspian Border for the beta’s final weekend and conduct an open large scale test of the 64 player Caspian Border map.

*****Please keep in mind that as this is beta we will be stress testing our servers***** As such, users may experience crashes, network instability and outages as we roll out and configure servers and network utilities. Understand that such potential issues and the testing environment are not reflective or indicative of the final product and that, through your participation, you will be helping to ensure future stability and functionality.

As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).

UPDATE: Some users may see "You were kicked by an administrator" when dropped from the game. This is not accurate (beta!) and relates to being dropped by the server. Thank you for your continued participation in our beta!

Is it possible for an Intel 2400 or AMD equivalent with 1GB Radeon 6850 to achieve a min. of 30 FPS at 1920x1080 with low to medium quality and no AA or AF? This is whether I play in an outdoor or indoor map and with 24 or more players.
I don't know, but I might check here...

If 2142 is coming to steam I'm thinking the rumors of BF3 having a steam release may have some traction. I'm crossing my fingers!

i got bored halfway through the movie. but all of the ones i saw occured while he was moving. there a known bug in the beta that causes significantly higher damage while moving. dice claims to have it fixed in the release.

also certain materials aren't registering bullet hits like they should, i haven't tested this (but it explains some of my wierd deaths)but some of the rocks on metro, and mayb eother surfaces don't actually provide cover. you can be shot THROUGH the rock. it doesn't provide any sort of barrier to the bullets.

bf3 beta sucks right now because of the incredible number of game breaking bugs. IF and this is a big IF, dice has fixed these bugs as they claim, then BF3 live should be a pretty solid game. to be honest this doesn't even feel like a beta. it feels like an alpha. i understand this is early beta code, but i can't believe they decided this was worth making available to the public. alot of people are going to treat this as a demo/preview of the real game.

that being said, ims till giving dice the benefit of the doubt. we shall see what happens the 25th. bf3 is a fun game, and i like what they have done its just got some horrible game breaking bugs right now.
