    Re: Battlefield 3

I really just want my standard name Zetachi as my BF3 soldier name. All this seems to be doing is making me more confused

I'm hoping I can just get my old name back when BF3 starts but I doubt it. At lease this way, if it pulls from Origin I'm a bit closer.

Do we know if they will start the downloads before release day, so that we can play on the 24th? and not have to wait?

Yeah I saw a tweet this morning

Greetings @aro5389 ! The answer is yes! All digital distributors will allow pre-downloads to begin on Oct 21! ^CH

Excellent. The other day when Amazon was having the pre-order sale on the digital download I think it had Oct 25 10am as release date. Now this is displayed:
This item will be released on October 21, 2011 at 7:00 AM (US/Pacific)
So that's 10:00 AM for those on the east coast. Oct 21 is a Friday so we can hammer on the servers all weekend if necessary until we get it downloaded

hmm think I found somethhing. Just not sure what it will do.

    Go to http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/.

In upper right hand corner it says welcome. Click the drop down and pick Change your persona. Up pops every name you have used on EA.

Bah not sure if it does anything except change your name on ea forum. Origin name is still the same.

Oh ok I see where you are now. Yeah as you have realized that only changes your persona on the forums. Actually it's almost like you are logging in as someone else. For example, it doesn't track your thread subscriptions across personas.

Seems second hand buyers have to purchase an online pass.

That'll teach them to buy the sub-par console version

    HELP!

I still haven't pre-ordered and I'm so confused by the choices.

Where has everyone gotten their copy from? I prefer a physical box...

Are there any extras that you can't get unless you buy the game from preferred vendor X?

    Q9300 with 4 GB DDR2 1066 RAM
UltraSharp 2408WFP (needs to be RMA'ed) on GeForce GTX 285 on two 18 amp 12V lines
    Audigy X-Fi Fatal1ty w/ Logitech Z-5500 & Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and HD 595
plus the usual stuff in a poorly designed Antec P180 PW case

If you are interested in the "extras" see here. IMO nothing is really worth any special attention.

It has been on sale several times now. Physical boxed copy from Newegg has been <$50 I think 3-4 times now. I just checked all my bookmarks and it's $59.99 everywhere right now. Digital download from Amazon is $51 but was recently on sale for $42.
