Re: Jeremy's I have no idea what to do with a quad for folding thread!

forums have been yucky today, couldnt get on for a good while grr

ok, sadly somehow my HDMI radeon x1600 pci express card got borked.... too me a good long while to figure this out, after stripping everything out except the video card, cpu, and mem, it finally clicked it had to be the vid card

really annoying, that wasnt a cheap card at the time I bought it, guess its an excuse to get a dx 10 capable card now, and lesson learned, put it in a static bag back in the box, or at least away somewhere safe, just sitting on my desk was probably not the best place for it

moving on, got the system to finally post after dropping an old pci 8 meg card in there, yep had that puppy since 94 or 95 something like that, its still ticking amazingly

now im just going through the winders setup prodcedures

grrr stupid video card, oh well, just making lemonade outta lemons here

FWIW the system is nice, not my best build, I did the quick and dirty method, Ill zip tie and tidy it all up later on

    cheers
    j

email me a mailing addy to jeremy_wills@hotmail.com I will not use paypal until they decide they are wrong and send me the 389.14 cents they owe me, although they seem to disagree with me, dont trust em, they make mistakes and when they do and you try to contact them about it they make all the excuses in the world and stuff

will a us postal money order mailed the old fashioned way work?

sorry about conducting buisness like this in the open folks, im just greatful the forums allowing me to post in the regular postings, I dont know whats up but any time I try and access the PM part it just bombs on me for the past few days.

Once you get the better cooling and PSU running let me know and I'll tell you how to get close to 4000PPD out of that thing (possibly 4400-4500 if it's a dedicated folder). It's easy to do under Windows and you don't even need to use VMWare/Linux to do it.

That'll blow dan clear out of the water.

Then go here and download the Affinity Changer ver 1.02 and install it via the directions on the site. Shut down your first SMP client, install a second client to another hard drive if you have two, or at least to a different folder. Run the -configonly -local for the second client and designate a different machine ID number. Now start one of the clients with the -local flag in addition to whatever flags you are using. Once it gets going, start the second client with the -local flag like you did the first and sit back and let it roar. At 3.2GHz I woke up to one client at 2100PPD and the other at just under 2400PPD for a 4400+ ppd average. That drops to 3800-3900 when I use the system for other things, but that's still a darn site better than a single SMP client can produce on the same system.

You can run more than one SMP client on one machine without virtual machines???
