    Re: 3800 Pricing revealed... DAMN!

I really doubt it. Many sites are saying these cards will be 10-20% lower...hence the lower pricing. Plus, the cards are underclocked as compared to the GTs.

    Re: 3800 Pricing revealed... DAMN!

please keep in mind that this tho being a refresh is an updated refresh and is im sure suffering as much from imature drivers as it is from being intentionaly underclocked.

the 2900/2600 still are gaining performance with each new driver relece, personaly i think ALOT of the problems with diffrent games performance is that the drivers havent been fully worked out yet, its not quite the same as the 9800>x800 jump where it was effectivly a liniar jump just dubbling the chip and updating a few things, its more like the x1k line from x800, but more complex because they are dealing with a FAR diffrent design and they are also trying to support a pile of crap called microsoft vista, im SURE it has cause massive pain for the driver dev team, as it has for every driver dev team around the world..........

just give them time, and remmber, these are 55nm cores, they will im quite sure overclock FAR beyond stock

    No.

They will, in all probability be slower than the 2900XT (which has essentially the same core, but much more memory bandwidth), and the 2900XT cannot match an 8800GT.

I'm still looking forward to the card because of the vastly reduced power consumption, price, and possibility of achiving a good overclock.

At this point my hope is that it drives the price of 8800 GTs below 200 bucks. If can do that I'll be happy

Yep. In fact, I suspect that as soon as they come out, nvidia et al will drop their 8800gt prices to spoil AMD's coming out party. Good for all of us.
