    9500 is 239.99 @ newegg.

Man one of these would do wonders for my folding but I'm holding out for the black edition or something that OC's better.

The current MSI 790FX board looks real nice.

    Re: Phenoms Finally!

The thing i still like about AMD vs intel mobos is that the AMD has a nicer integrated chipset solution (690G); the SLI and crossfire board are also fully featured and costs less than intel mobos.

Do the 790FX boards have integrated gpus too?

Is AMD serious with their pricing??? I will be very surprised if they are able to sell any of these Phenoms...

Do you think the Phenoms cost too much? A q6600 is $270Cdn in some places and runs much faster than AMD's.

But it's proven "old" technology! On the intel side, with the penryns coming out the hot talk will be penryns.

I am rooting for Quad/AMDs though, because their retail box is nicer. Reviews have not been kind to the phenoms, unfortunately.

    Re: Phenoms Finally!

My first build was an A7v with a 1 Gig Thunderbird, so I quickly learned the importance of the bios updates.
So, I'd like to try my hand with the new Asus board, and the 3870.
    But everything's raw...
It won't be a clear winner right out of the gate, but it still should be a fun ride.

    Re: Phenoms Finally!

At the moment I am crying about seeing my great nforce 3 939 system about to be parted out. She is a stable rock.

I am also stuck in this latest upgrade round of hell I am calling it.

The new AMD 9600 I am also wanting info on the BLACK EDITION. The gigabyte AM2+ board here looks good although I would like a LPT1 socket...I know...
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128074

I have a New Intel Q6600 wishlist at newegg using this board that gives me the SPDIF and LPT1 I need The MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813130081 However user reports have just about scared me away from feature failures and DOAs. Looks like some quality control really got thrown out the window with this build.

With the MSI K9A2 Platinum using the AMD 790FX chipset review coming...thanks Ryan! I am off to research that and I guess cross my fingers with a NEW AMD CPU! If the board doesnt astound me I guess i will have to roll the dice with a MSI Intel P6N.

The bottom line for someone like me who flys Flight Sims that need a reliable hardware setup really doesnt care about flash and features. I want a solid high tech build that is worth my money and lasts!! Not too much to ask for in the year Jan 2008, that is, trigger time.....

It seems to me AMD throws us all this flash but still cant beat Intel. Well I suppose thier is that Gigabyte DS4 Intel board that I could get but would have to add a LPT1 board. Seems to offer a more reliable MB. Owell enough observations...." To each his own erratic insyncrosees...lol "

Cool let us know how it goes. What motherboard are you plugging it into?

When it breaks into the $195 range or they come out with a better OCing chip I'll get one. I'd Love to fold with 4 cores in one machine.
