Re: Overclocking my AMD X2 3800 and Video card

Video card should be easier.. My last video card came with a program and I just turned up the ram and cpu on it.

so make sure vdimm is set to 1.8v.

might try loosening the timings to 5-5-5-15.

changing command rate to from t 1 to t 2 could also help.

I am trying to work on a solution to back up my raid. I made a thread about using express recovery but no one has had anything to add.

Flashed my Bios to see if they added anything.

I did have to set my ram timing to 5 and to DDR400.. How much ram performance do I lose for a 500-600 overclock on the CPU?

Ok, Im at Cpu freq 256 but nothing is running hot with my vcore from 1.2 volts to 1.375

For now I am going to stop at 256, play some COD4 then run Orthos is the morning for about an hour. Played COD4 for quite sometime and my temp didn't go up at all. Of course Im still going to run Orthos in the morning but I wanted to see if I could get it to 260. I can't my computer just restarts over and over right after all my drives are detected by the Bios. I tried turning it up to 1.4.. Is the restarting being caused by not getting enough power?

    good goin' !

usually it's the oc that causes the reboots but also could be your psu. i'm surprised it's doing as well as it is.

with your planned additions to the system, that new psu will be a good investment.

edit: your temps are going to shoot up quite a bit when running orthos.

How long should I run Orthos and is it safe to leave it running while gone?

So you think it is my PSU causing the insta resets. I just overclocked my video card too and it is running fine..

Also, do you think I could get the timing on the ram to 4 or am I going to have to leave it at 5?

Re: Overclocking my AMD X2 3800 and Video card

as long as the temps stay low 50's after 10-15 minutes let it go. at the final oc i let it run minimum of 12hr. i've had bust outs at 10hr.

sooner or later(adding more hds), your continued overclock and loads under gaming, your going to overload what you have. it can't keep up forever. it can take out your board or other hardware when it goes.

as with the ram, finish finding the cpu oc and work with the ram later. with your 533 ram you don't have the extra head room but who knows. mhz is king.

Funny sounds are coming from my PSU I think. I am going to unplug my IDE harddrive to lighten the load. Leaving the IDE cable in wont cause any problems will it?
