Try detaching from the project and rebooting. Then reattach.

Has anyone been able to get a new box connected to Cosmology in the last couple of days?

I had no problems with three rigs yesterday smokey. What I ended up doing was uninstalled Boinc through the add/remove programs. Then hard deleted the Boinc folder, rebooted. Then installed the Boinc manager right from Cosmology(5.10.30), put in their url, and my user name/password. And started crunching. I hope this works for you brother.

Been trying with 5.10.13 on XP32, so I detached from cosmology and upgraded to 5.10.30 and reattached to cosmo.

But now it thinks I've exceeded 200 wu's so won't give me anything, won't even try to download the executable.

So looking at your message, is it actually running cosmo? It shows you returning results from QMC...

The other box is the Xeon box, fresh install of XP64, fresh install of boinc 5.10.30, and it won't download the executable not any work. I attached to Einstein with it after getting tired of not connecting to cosmo and that went just fine. I was getting the exact same messages on the 32bit box before I upgraded boinc.

Yes, it's running Cosmo. I aborted the WU's from QMC, that's what you see there.

Like I mentioned somewhere else. I signed up through BAM!. When my clients talked to BAM! it all automated the attachment and running. Mine seem ok.

Some ISPs block the download of suspect .exe files. The false positive rate on .exe files can be quite high since two different programs compiled with the same compiler can have similar stretches of bytes. I've seen this before on other projects. Eventually the project usually gets a clue and sends files compressed. The bytes in a compressed file are random looking, so it is unlikely that they will contain a suspect sequence.

I'd love to take advantage of this... Smoked Trout stuck and unable to crunch on Cosmo... Heh... I'd FINALLY be able to get one up on you!

:sigh: Still have those 25 hr QMC wus to work through for about three days or so. This isn't a priority with you ST, is it?

Gee, be thankful your ISP has your 'best' interest in mind.

I've found I like to handle all of my own security. For a few false positives can be more damaging then a missed attack. I'm sure this has happened to my e-mail on more then one occasion.

That must be it. As SP says, I sure can't wait to thank them!

Wonder if anyone's there right now....

    Who is your ISP?

Might just start at the end of the 24hrs, and give you another 200 wu?

    when ever this is: +24hrs

    Re: Welcome to Cosmology

Operator error! Why didn't I think of that!

But it's so much easier to blame my ISP (QWest)

Damn thing is still trying to download the executable. Here's the messages:
    1/1/2008 4:50:43 PM|Cosmology@Home|Started download of camb_2.04_windows_intelx86.exe
1/1/2008 4:57:40 PM||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site

    1/1/2008 4:57:40 PM|Cosmology@Home|Backing off 1 hr 19 min 3 sec on download of camb_2.04_windows_intelx86.exe
1/1/2008 4:57:41 PM||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.
Both boxes have the exe about 70% downloaded, but it was painful getting even that far.

I think you're right, it's operator error! I'm gonna detach and try BAM!, what could go wrong?
