We know that the 9800GX2 has 2 printed circuit boards (PCBs), as did the 7950GX2 in its time, two graphics processing units (GPUs) using 65 nm nodes (most likely G92s with 128 stream processors), 1 GB of memory (512 MB for each GPU) and two DVI outputs.
We don't know yet if the GeForce 9800GX2, which is supposed to be 30% faster than the 8800 Ultra, will support Quad SLI configurations.
The expected price: around $449 US. Expected announcement date: February 14, 2008.

If 9800GX2 is 30% faster than the 8800Ultra, where will the new 9800GTX fit? 9800GX2 seems like a dead duck, since it should be competing vs single chip solutions from nVidia that look to be very close to it in terms of performance (not to mention price...). Something fishy about nVidia's new roadmap, since it is often said the new cards are still G92 based (~just a die shrink?). I bet nVidia is holding back something, since it still doesn't support Dx10.1 which might never become an issue, but you never know.

2 8800gts slapped together like the 7950gx2. I see a overheating problem just like that 1 had. These 8800s seem to run hotter on stock cooling already. I have put zalman vf900s on mine and it has made a world of difference. This cad will not perform any better than a 8800 sli setup will. single slot solution though.

Overheating shouldn't be much of a problem. It can use 1.1V instead of 1.2 since the dual 3870 card from ATI will be slower anyhow.
