That Nikon D300 is a nice piece of kit... check out our in-house Photo Enthusiasts' thread. It's fallen downscreen a bit, but shots like yours would bring it back to the top 'nStuff...

Tip for an easy couple of points.
My team (Crunchers Inc) is bored with Sudoku for now so you can gain a place if you hit that.

Re: Formula Boinc. Who's doing what.

It's been a boring day at work so I have had time to look at where we are in Formula Boinc. The following are my recommendations. I won't twist your arm or talk bad about anybody that doesn't agree with them. But I will lay out my logic behind them.

Let's start with WCG since a lot of you are running it. Even though you are making great progress moving up the ranks, I don't see any future in it. Yesterdays production was about 50000 credits. The top 8 teams are averaging over 200000 credits a day. Looks to me like no way to make points.

If that 50000 were spread over several smaller projects we could make a lot of points. Below are my recommendations for projects that we could improve on:

    Code:
    Pos Project Yesterdays Production
    5 Ufluids 4706
    8 Enigma 0
    8 Rieselseive 14000
    10 TSP 11424
    22 Sztaki 237
    26 Milkyway@home 1046
    28 Poem@home 1811
50000 spread over these 7 projects would average out to a little over 7000 credits a day per project. If this took us to 3rd place in each project that would give us 42 points. Ufluids and Sztaki have dry spells sometimes but could be run in combination with Milkyway, which seems very stable. You'll notice that I didn't include Sudoku in the list. LostinTennesee and I will have us in 2nd place shortly but to get into 1st we would need an additional 10000 credits a day. It's not worth it at this point to divert that much there for only 2 points. I hope this all made sense.

Let's check the numbers. Your making 8000 credits a day and we're making 11000 a day. We're 7000 credits behind you. Doesn't look like much of a favor to me.

Re: Formula Boinc. Who's doing what.

^^Some comments about the projects where Red wants to concentrate.

Enigma is not putting out work right now. The admin says he'll update in Mid-February regarding status.

POEM has a limit of 7 tasks per core. Some are short (~15 minutes) and some are long (~12 hours).

Milkyway has a limit of 20 tasks per host. All units seem to be short (~15 minutes).

uFluids has had issues with unit reliability, for lack of a better term. I put a machine back on it yesterday and have run a half dozen units without a problem. If it doesn't give fits, I'll put up ~2K/day on it.

Slight amendment-------is 7 units per core
Limitation is a pain but work is to date always available and servers holding up well.

Wow, all you guys with your quads and multiple c2d's, I feel so... inadaquate! I'll try out MilkyWay on my X2 4400 and if I don't like it then it'll be Riesel Sieve or Enigma (when it gets work again). My trusty P3 930MHz will take on Riesel Sieve after it finishes it's current Einstein unit, only 40+ hours to go! And finally, my mighty Athlon 1200MHz Thunderbird will stay with Seti, as it has a special place in my heart.

I have to agree 100% with the comments on uFluids, I've been running it again for a week now with no bad/failed units. Now just be warned this is running a P4 2.4, so it's not like it's pumping out allot of WU's (it was failing on 1 out of ever 3 on this same machine before) so your milage mary very, but it does appear to be improved.
Crunching various BOINC projects under the Swordfish username, for the PCPER Froggies.
