Cool, release a slew of them. At federal cost. Then when there's hundreds of them de-list them and let the states take control on their own dime.

What gets me is in many parts of the US wolves are legal to own as pets. A few years back wolves were re- classified in the same scientific class and name as domestic dogs.

My *dog* came from folks similar to chaparral maybe thats why I am so interested in the wolf thing.

    Re: It's Delisting Day!

How 'bout just relocating them to my neighborhood? I am sick to death of all the deer eating my flowers! I really thought that when I started seeing foxes and coyotes running around at dusk a few years ago, that my "problem" would go away.
However, they don't seem to have put a dent in it. At least not based on the deer traffic thru my yard in the middle of the night. Heh - I installed motion sensors around my house so I could figure out when they are moving - LOL typically about 4:30am!!
Perhaps the coyotes are only able to take down the young? So it may take awhile for the mature heard to thin. Aye, a wolf wouldn't take so long.......

Write your congressmen, tell them you want wolves. It doesn't take many to stir things up.

As an elk hunter I kind of like them. There are a few ranches that provide complete protection for elk during the season. Sometimes there'd be thousands of elk camped on these ranches during season, then they'd leave after season. I always wanted something to go stir those elk out of there....

    Well wolves have accomplished that!

TMack... we've had great success with a product called a "scarecrow". Its a motion sensor activated water sprinkler and they work great. The only problem is forgetting they're there when you work in the yard. I've gotten wet quite a few times.

On another note, a bit off-topic... a wolverine was photographed in California's Northern Sierra by a motion activated camera.

Well today it became official, and gray wolves are no longer listed as an endangered species in the Northern Rockies.

Looks like the lawsuits will be filed sometime next month, no groups have tried to file an injunction stopping the delisting in it's tracks as of yet. The litigants are searching for the most favorable site to introduce their lawsuits, most likely here in Missoula.

Pretty amazing recovery really. Fourteen years, from a total of 66 wolves released in Yellowstone and Idaho. I read the initial EIS and recovery plan documents which estimated populations to be a third of what the are now, and less than half the area.

    Colorado is next!

Thanks, Aero. Good to have some free time!

Mad, I've had Ostrich and yes it is yummy.

FYI, the state clarified that it is not necessary to eat a harvested wolf. What fun is that?
