the foxconn 590 wouldn't let me lower the multi on the 3600 brisbane, so i brought the 560 up from the dungeon. while i was setting it up, i noticed i hadn't removed the battery or set the jumper to clear so all setting remained from the last time.

it booted up and i loaded up a copy of windows @9x336

been playn' some more. 364htt was all i can get the 3600 to post and run stable with the 8 multi but it runs quite nicely at 8.5x360.

    Re: undersea alert "560"

UD I killed my 5000+ black. I suspect that the mini ninja takes such force to mount that I either messed up the heat spreader or the board warped.

Funny thing is my Raptor in my intel machine went down on Monday and then the processor won't let me game on Tuesday in the AMD machine

I RMAed the chip and the Raptor yesterday.

So last night faced with the thought of no gaming for the weekend I ran to Microcenter and picked up a another 8450 ($104)and a golden orb cooler.

The cooler was tough to mount. All is good and I gamed last night. I am going to OC the beast tonight. Just hoping for 2.5-2.6 range but with my AMD luck of late I'll probably get 100mhz.

When are 45nm quads coming out. I hope AMD gets some news out soon or even samples

congratulations, not many are able to trash their cpu.

    priorities!

yes the thermaltake orbs are a bitch. that's what cracked a trace on my sapphire board last thanksgiving. my goof! didn't take the board out of the case first. thank goodness for a refurb i had in stock.

heat is the biggest limiting factor on the tri & quad amds. there also a max htt they'll go. i think 260 with the tri cores.

stuck the 6000 in the 560 yesterday but no miracles.

still amazed how well the lowly 3600 did on the board!

Yea that 560 & 3600 combo would have been locked like your MSI/phenom combo is

What did you get with the 6000?

I am working on OCing the 8450 now. I am up to 2370 right now. Heat is becoming an issue. I bought one of these and I will continue once I get it.

    Xigmatek HDT-S1283 CPU Cooler

Which is the same as my OCZ Vendetta 2

Look in at Rebels and the 770 thread. Man the 770 is quirky with phenoms. Can't set a 667 divider but then I realized I bought DDR2 1000 memory .

If I change the NB FID or HTT FID I can't change the HT more then 203

Yes I did allot of reading to understand all that

If I leave everything at stock I can push the HT but now I'm getting heat issues. Running prime I'm getting near 60c according to HW monitor.

I did push CPU volts to 1.29 and bumped HTT volts and NB/SB volts one setting.

    update: on the 6000 & the foxconn 590. 3370@25.641s 1.50vcore

it was right on the edge. after passing prime for 11 hours or so, it froze up when i restarted speed fan. probably best to knock it down to 320x15 for non stop actions.

and yes, i think the 3600 will be reserved for the 560.

the new cooler looks like a better choice for the tri core than the thermaltake. i have the ruby orb running on the sapphire board with one of the 175 optys @2870 and 45c idle. the 175 will do 3050.

i got a rosewill rz5 for $15 and pocket change shipping with the 6000. the latch on the hold down won't clear the nb cooler on the foxconn but fits nicely on the 560.

heat is a big issue with the tri and quad.

i've been watching the rebel thread. i think(tread carefully with that) there is a divider problem with some of the dividers on that board. maybe the 1066 not working.

60s are fine. what i see with the quad is 20 degree jump, once you cross a imaginary line with the mhz. usually around 25 minutes into prime. i'm using a vcore of 1.33v which is 1 bump above stock on the msi board.

Some of the brand new BIOS like 228 and 328 may have trouble overclocking at all, when the Memory Divider 667 is selected. I found this out with the Mod 328 BIOS, that has the "Timing Mode" unhidden. When the "Timing Mode" is kept at "Auto", the memory always runs at SPD no matter what actual memory speed is selected. "Timing Mode" has to be set to "Manual" or "Memclk".

Try 553 or 800 if you are finding you can not overclock hardly at all when set to 667.

Note that this is only related to Phenom CPU.

I believe that thrm & Tmpin2 are the same, I think digital reading from the processor. I am using them for my CPU temps anyway because they also follow the biostar temp programs and realtemp.
