Nice device. Ya, Like you said, DOH! why didn't I think of that! Maybe with external sata ports on mobos more common now, perhaps they will make one for that too.

Re: Thermaltake BlacX SATA HDD USB Dock Review - and win one!!

To bad I still have a lot of PATA drives around. Iím willing to bet most of us have a ton of OLD stuff sitting around. I think I still have the original documentation form my NEC Ready 7022. A Pentium 90 system I bought in 1996. I might even have the P 90 CPU still.

Anyway back on topic. I just recently replaced a HDD in my back up system and it was PATA. I understand that the old PATA drives are becoming obsolete but there still must be a ton out there.

Good scheme. I have to admit that I probably wouldn't have posted without the promo.

I'd be much more comfortable with this device as a backup scheme if they sold some kind of thin case to protect the drives but still allows them to fit in the dock. Its almost like a 1TB floppy drive but the exposed drive controller electronics make me a little jumpy.

I think the idea and desighn is great , but what I would like to see is a full SATA version of this . That way it would be easy to boot a OS off of it . One could even have multiable os on hard drives and just shut down the computer, remove and pop in a hard drive and bingo your running Linux or what ever you wish with out having to dual boot . Mabe even make a version that would fit into a 5.25 drive bay ! Now that would be cool ! A Real swapable hard drive with out opening the case or cluttering up your desktop. Imagine being able to realy showcase that raptor X in this fashion ! Now how cool would that be ?

edit I sent My idea to thermaltake be interesting to see if I get a responce
