    Recommend me an Acoustic Guitar!!

Hey guys. I want to take up learning how to play the guitar, the acoustic guitar. Mainly to impress my girlfriend.

I used to have a hondo guitar long ago but gave it away as I was more into drums back when I was younger. Anyway, I'm looking around and I can't seem to find Hondo guitars anymore.

    Are they still good?

Also, since this will be for learning I do not want a fancy-shmancy overpriced guitar. I want one I can really learn and can take a beating. It's a 6string guitar, not a 12 or bass.

What are good places to buy from? There used to be MARS in the city I live in but they went out of business long ago.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

i owned a hondo electric guitar for a short time. it was the worst guitar i've ever met. if i were you, i would go to a guitar center or someplace like it and tell one of the people there your price range and ask them to show you different guitars in the range and pick one out.

Bear in mind...I cant suggest how it may feel in your hands. No more than I can suggest how speakers might sound to your ears.

whatever guitar you get, you'd better hammer a hole in it like ole willy's. he's one of the best musicians ever. so, to be good it's obvious you need an extra hole.

Is that your attempt at humor?
    You obviously don't play.
If you did you would know that just because you have the exact same set up as a musician doesn't mean that you can play/sound like them.
You would also know that Willy didn't "hammer that hole in the guitar". It came from decades of playing. That hole is worn into the guitars top caused by the pick striking it.

    That's what I would do.
    Guitars are very tactile.
They have to feel right in your hands.
    And then the sound.
While they may look similar, they sound different.
And you can't tell how they sound unless you hear them.

I held an Ibanez Baritone 12-String once... fell in love. Amazing sound. Beautiful feel. FanTASTIC look.

For the first time, I wanted to learn how to play guitar.

My point? Be careful, and only pick up guitars you can afford 'nStuff!
