    Question Bose Companion 5 speakers

I am looking to upgrade my very old Altec Lansing speakers, and I am thinking of the Companion 5 from Bose. They use USB instead of a traditional sound card. I was wondering if anyone has used these and if they are a great speaker system. I will be using them mostly for games, music, video on my computer.

    thanks for the help,

Why bypass your sound card with USB?
Why not get something that plugs into your card?

i don't recommend getting them, they're a waste of money, if they're priced like bose products usually are.

i want some behringer speakers with optical connection, but i don't currently have the money.

Bose always seemed like overpriced crap to me, although i haven't personaly owned anything from them. Also when you bypass your soundcard with a USB DSP depending on what soundcard you are using you may lose out on HW accel in games.

I wouldn't recommend BOSE anything to anyone. IMHO they are simply overpriced for what you get...generally, there are better options for less money out there (at least in the HT realm).
