Well, I'm officially back in the game

It's been awhile....finishing up grad school and spending the first year at my new job, I felt it necessary to remove the computer addiction bug from my life. Now that things have settled down and I have a little more free time, I decided its time to get back into the game. No more microatx onboard video solutions for me. And the best part is that I convinced my job to purchase all of this stuff for me, under the guise of it being a "work-related computer at home." Well in actuality it is, but lets get serious....we gonna be doin some gaming on this beeyotch.

    Antec 900 Case
    PCP&C 750 Silencer Power supply
    EVGA 780 sli motherboard
    Intel Q6600 processor OEM
    8 GB (4x2GB) OCZ Titatnium DDR2 800 Memory
    4 x 250GB Seatgate ES.2 32MB cache hard drives
    2 x EVGA 9800GTX Video Cards
    Zalman 8700 NT Heatsink
    Sony/NEC DVD/DVD-burner SATA
    Zalman 6 channel fan controller
    4 Scythe 120mm fans
    Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit

    Sorry I don't mean to brag....well yes I guess I do. I get a hard-on just thinkin about it.

Well at least you're only getting stuff that you ABSOLUTELY NEED in order for you to do your job!

I'm in the "early success" stages of this company. When money is not an issue. I've been told to order what I need when I need it, regardless of cost (within reason), as long as it gets it done faster. We'll see what happens in a few years when the competitors wise up to our success and come out with new products of their own to compete with ours.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

From reading around I see BD24 is finishing the build.
Ill be curious how things went together [particularly the Video Cards]
and how things get along with Vista.

Re: Well, I'm officially back in the game

Well I put it together last night, except for the second video card. Waiting on the memory to show up today (freaking UPS) so I can do the vista install tonight. After doing some reading on the eVGA forums, I think I have all of the pitfalls down pat.....don't use the sata dvd-rom to install windows, and keep the memory at 2gb until you install SP1.

I've already commented on this in a couple of other threads, but jeezuz christ the video cards are friggin huge!!! They make arranging the wiring and the hard drive configuration much more difficult....gonna have to get creative with some cable ties.

I read. Why I brought it up here so maybe you could expand.

I dont know about other guys but for me? I enjoy the play by play that goes along with a particular build.
That way? A reader doing similar is up to snuff and knows what
    quirks might arise.

Im guessing Wise and Ryan will get an EVGA subforum up and running pretty quick...just a few details to workout...and we can copy this to there once its created.

Re: Well, I'm officially back in the game

After reading some reviews about 9800gtx in sli, it has become apparent that I need my company to buy me a bigger monitor....I don't think 1600x1200 resolution is even going to stress these things out.

Memory got here this afternoon so we are good to go....gonna try and install vista tonight and then post back when I'm up and running....fingers crossed, wish me luck.

Twin Samsungs is what you need. One for each eye.

Come on. If you are gonna haul them over the coals? Why stop part way?

Just like Carly Simon said in a song: Dont walk me halfway home.
