Lol, you mean you didn't even bother to run it at stock speeds at all? Of course I think the stock speed really is 3.0ghz on these anyway. Intel just marked them wrong.

Stock Speed Quads are reserved for Wimps and BWM. Real men run them at 3.0 or higher.

Would you guys agree this is the last budget overclocker now? I was looking at the q9300 and its pricey compared to this.

Might not be the last, or the only budget chip great for overclocking, but it sure is popular and guys really manage to milk PPD out of them. The QX series of quads would be the best of course but its hard to overlook the Q6600 G0's overclockability. The more I read about the chip, the more tempted I am to try it myself.

The thing that makes it so good and hard to overlook is 2.4ghz to 3.8ghz. An equal 45 nm chip just can't go that high due to the fsb issue. This deal is gone but hopefully an equal one will take its place. Then maybe order a few of these

just running mem unlinked at 800 fsb at 1333 0608 bios for my board.

however i have run into issues that are problem specific to my motherboard. the bios support for the quads is horrible for my motherboard = a heck of a lot of wierd issues, althought once in windows all is well. but you never know if it will boot again or not. which is why i just ordered the abit ip35 pro.

simply put do NOT use the p5n-e for anything more than dual cores. unless you want issues out the wazuu.

but as far as settings go for the bios its just factory default with the fsb at 1333 and memory unlinked runnin gat stock 800.

Mines running at 350/1400 for 3.15 right now. I am running the memory at 700, to at least keep it a multiple of the CPU. I would need to do some benchmarks to see if it would benefit to run the mem unsynched at a higher speed.

wierd i got my new IP35 pro installed. damn awesome board if i must say. really impressed so far.

no more mobo temperatures of 54c, back down to 35c. i still don't know what the hell was going on with that.

cpu was detected at a vcore of 1.22 instead of the 1.28 of the previous board. which is wierd.

but its running 3ghz at 1.22 right now no problems!

i had to run the stock intel heatsink/fan this time around because my tuniq tower 120 backplate is practically superglued to the motherboard for all intents and purposes so i can't get it off to install it on the new board.

temps are 50cish idle and load of 65ish. with the tuniq tower my temps were 40c idle. i wanna cry, i can't install teh damned thing on the new board.

im now at 1.24 vcore and a 3.28 ghz on the q6600.

abit uguru is showing temp at 43c idle which is the tcase i believe

core temp is showing mid 50's idle.

with the tuniq tower i used to have 40c idle CORE temps :*(

I haven't gotten that brave yet, but I do have all of my Q6600's at 2.7 now. Will try upping it more this weekend
