Crytek's Cevat Yerli speaks on Ray Tracing and more

    http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=546

I interviewed Crytek's Cevat Yerli about ray tracing, Intel's Larrabee and more.

    Very intresting.

Im just curious, those screenies you posted,I remember seeing Q3 with ray tracing, were those images of Farcry and Crysis using Ray tracing instead of D3D?

I'm a little confused as to why screenshots of Far Cry 2 were included in the article? Neither Crytek nor Cevat are involved in the development of this sequel - it's all Ubisoft Montreal from what I understand.

Far Cry 2 uses the Crytek CryEngine2, that's all. Just the next title based on their work.

Nope, all of those shots are standard rasterization; no ray tracing found there.

Let's hope it is better optimized to run on a modern PC ;-).

FarCry 2 will be using Dunia engine, a heavily modified Ubisoft's GRiN engine used in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter Xbox360 version. And it's developed entirely by Ubisoft, which holds the license to FarCry title.

As for Crytek, their next project is Crysis 2, and their latest improved CryEngine2 that will be used for the game can be seen here

So, yeah, get your facts straight.

getting snippy with the owner of this site for no reason doesn't bode well young padawan.

but that aside, im gonna have to look into larabee. ive only heard snippets of info on the project. cryengine 2, albeit nice, has some pretty nasty inefficiencies to overcome. hopefully it will be better optimized next time around, or at least by the time its out we will all have hardware to the point it doesn't matter (wishful thinking).
