Thumbs up Need help to stop auto message on start up

I know I should not be messing around with the computer because I am not a technical person.

But anyway, I did and now I need help. I wanted to take Vista off the computer, but accidentally put in the ASUS P5E Intel X38 Chipset Support DVD. I pulled the DVD out when I realized it was the wrong one.

But now every time I boot up the computer, I get a message window that says:

"Please insert the Support CD and press OK"

I don't know how to get rid of that message. Can you help?

This is showing up when vista has booted ? Can you continue into vista ?
If you can, look in control panel>windows defender>tools>software explorer>startup programs and see if it has something there that might be running at start up that's looking for the cd. The Asus program that runs from the cd is Assetup.exe

Failing that you should be able to use the vista restore and go back to a restore point before you had the problem.

    Thank you for responding.

I checked those programs and could see nothing that would link to ASUS.

I will go back to an old restore point. Thank you again.

Hi, why can't you just put the dvd back in, let the first screen run, it won't do anything unless you want it too will it? Then just close the screen and remove the dvd..

Thanks for all of the feedback.

I ended up removing Vista and replacing it with XP. In the process, as you would all know, I had to put the P5E disk in to get the right drivers. That fixed the problem.

Now I am happy again. Thanks guys.
