Re: HELP!!! Windows XP install wont detect HDD
If you have the plain A8v ( not the deluxe) then you don't need to set up a "false" raid. IIRC that workaround was for the promise controller on the the a8v deluxe. The plain A8v has only via sata controller.
Is the sata/raid bios detecting your hard drive ? Tab should let you see the drive detected. If it isn't detected then windows won't see it either. Windows install will also require you to supply via sata/raid drivers on a floppy drive during the windows installation ( hit F6 at the prompt "Press F6 to install 3rd Party RAID Controller Software" )
You can download drivers from via here:
see where it says the following on that page....you can get some more info there>>>>
VIA V-RAID Driver
To create the driver disk for Windows installation, you need to copy the contents of the folder named DriverDisk in the zip file, but not the folder itself - just the contents. For further information, please read this article.
There is a fairly good walkthrough here with screenshots, though it is for winxp64, but it is the same basic routine for winxp obviously with winxp drivers and not winxp64 drivers.
