    lsass.exe problem

I"m working on a compaq 2850 laptop for someone. It has windows xp installed.
Problem thats coming up has to do with a windows file lsass.exe.

This is error that comes up.

Security accounts manager initialization failed because of the following error. The handle is invalid. Error Status: 0xc0000008. Please click OK to shutdown this system and reboot into Safe Mode, check the event log for more detailed information.

I've done a lot of research no real solution except using recovery disk which i don't have. Could it be related to Sasser virus? Any solutions to recover this with out recover cd's

Yeah i've come up on those on google and other differant version I don't have a xp cd to run off of. Easiest solution possibly to order the recovery disk for $15 than try and restore it. I ran knopix on the laptop so I can recover data from it.
