    Memory Support Info?

    Hi all,

I'm looking at a few of the Asus P45 based boards. I want to make sure that I pick out ram (2x2GB) that will play nice with the board. However, on the Asus site I found a pdf that showed support only up to ddr800 memory, but the newegg spec for the board (and P45's in general) says it should support ddr1200.

What's going on, and is there a better place to find a list of memory that will "play nice" with the board?

    Thanks

I think I saw that PDF you are talking about. The best thing to do is to go to Kingston or the Corsair website and use their memory configurator and see what they recommend.

I have an X48 board and one of the things I discovered was that most of the DDR2 1066mhz RAM out there is simply the manufacturers DDR2 800mhz RAM that you apply more voltage to so it can do 1066mhz. I have Kingston DDR2 1066mhz RAM. It's 800mhz RAM at the default 1.8 volts and it's 1066mhz RAM at 2.3 volts. It's really kind of disappointing, but that's just the way it is with DDR2

I have 4x2GB Corsair TwinX which works really well with my P5Q-E at PC-6400 speed at 5-5-5-18.

Be sure to check the official Asus forums. I know there have been a couple of stickied threads for memory regarding the P45 boards. Does include ddr 1200 if I remember correctly, but is very picky about it.

I myself have a P5Q Pro which seems to work great with DDR 800. However, I'm not planning on doing much overclocking, so good luck.
