    VNF4 Socket 939 compatibility?

What is the compatibility of VNF4 with socket 939 chips? Does it include all Toldeo and Manchester X2 chips, or just a few of them? What about socket 939 Opertons? I'm asking this because I have a old BFGRNF4U which I want to drop a new chip into, with some extra RAM and low-mid range video card to become my new HTPC.

Also, where can buy these discontinued chips without paying an excessive premium? Seems like some online retailers are charging $500+ for these chips, and Ebay will reach nearly $200. For that price I might as well buy a new computer!

    well hi!

any 939 will work except the mobiles.

    the best i can do is $141 shipped for a 3800 2x.

depending on how you intend to use the htpc a single core 4000 sandy may work at $36. probably oughta ask on that one.

Thank you for that clarification. The board has a 3200+ Venice on it right now, and I don't believe the San Diego chip will greatly improve performance. I'm bidding on a few Opertons and X2s on Ebay right now, and if I can get them around the $60-70 mark I'll be happy.

Otherwise I'll just buy a HD2600 XT with another gig of ram, because I need a new digital tuner anyways.
