Looking for UD for a little help..

It's installed now UD. It boots up to the point where windows informs you that an error has occured and you have to choose to start normally or in safe mode. Of coarse the MB change is enough to cause the error but it will not boot completely into windows. Do I need to reinstall windows. Windows should boot normally and only indicate new hardware has been found from the new MB.

    Let me know.

Oh yeah. The Bios reported that the processor was a +3200 when I disabled the A floppy seek and changed the boot sequence to look only for the Master. After I took another look at the BIOS I noticed that it stated that it was simply an athlon XP processor and thats it. I did not change another setting.

    Thanks

i didn't figure i'd here from you till this weekend.

9 out 10 cases a reinstall of windows is the best choice. your going from a via chipset to a nvidia, so yes reinstall windows. did you think to back up your data files.

11x200=xp3200@2200mhz and just a xp processor is fine. cold boot, restarts and bios save and exit, sometimes read differently at the dos screen.

If you didn't dsave data, you might try the repair option first, before trying a complete wipe and new install.

Its together. I loaded windows late last night. Loaded the nforce setup files. We need to get back to the bios. I did not clear the bios but the chip is posting as a 1.0 athlon xp chip. Post the steps we will go through.

Also send some info on the fan setup. In hast I forgot to put the thermal probe deep between the chip and sink. It is stuck to the base on the copper put if need to I can pull the heat sink off an stick it to the bottom. The Bios does not see RPM and the temp is showing 42 degrees. A little hot.....

Let me know what I need to hook up. I may put the jumper in for now and let it scream, but I'm really liking the quite low speed.

anything under 50c is fine. the cpu may not be hot enough to cause the fan to spin up with thermal probe. we shall see. are you using the adapter with the single yellow wire? i'll get some pics later if we need them.

ok, frequency/voltage in the bios/ set the cpu vcore to 1.72v, save and exit. return to bios set the cpu ratio to 100%/1:1, save and exit.

that's two separate steps. 1st the voltage then the 11x200. see if that gets things reading right with cpuz in windows.

Seems like this system didn't give you a challenge .....Or does it seem that way since you had this set up before you boxed it up.................Oh and yes as you stated all the goodies did make this fell like a new build........
