Make that about 150 times faster. WU's that were taking 6 - 7 hours are finishing in about 6.5 minutes on my system and this is a project with fixed credit.

    Hummm.....

Yea, slight miscalculation on my part. I only had time to intstal the new app on 2 rigs on my lunch hr. So I was a little off on the % increase. Only had time to see a couple finish before I had to run off.

But the credits are fixed, but are not at the 130 - 260 range like they were before. Now getting around 9.75 for the little ones and 18 for the big ones.

Even my slowest dual core can do more than the 300 per day wu limit per computer.

My fast rig is doing the 282's in less than 6min and the 283's in less than 3min ea.

Hope the server can keep up.............

Some work is available now, doubt it will last long. The credits per wu are also supposed to be reduced but I haven't noticed it yet. Maybe I can still hit 100K with this thing!

    Re: New Milkyway App

OK lets see back up with work.....

I reloaded my Air cooled A7N8X-E with a m2600 cpu running 12x5x200 for 2505mhz. With XPHome SP3. CPU-Z link in sig works.

Measured floating point speed 2346.33 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 3769.89 million ops/sec

WU's take less than 360sec to complete and recieve about 21 credits ea.

    60sec x 60sec = 3600sec x 24hrs = 86400 / 360 = 240 credits per hr. x 24hrs = 5760 credits a day. Or there abouts.

And thats a single core socket A mobile Barton.

Thats with the app linked in the first post.

Dave Anderson has already sent them a nasty e-mail:

Message 5707 - Posted 31 Oct 2008 19:01:06 UTC - in response to Message 5706. Well the new app is pretty much done (though i doubt it will be as fast as Miksop's). We're just having an issue with writing a new assimilator to handle it and an error where it doesn't output the the right file. But it should be out very soon. And I got a note from Dave Anderson yesterday saying that we're already over the limit on credits and we should lower them so I don't think we can remove that limit but I'll talk to some people.

So run it while you can before the almighty Dave puts the kabosh on it.

    Re: New Milkyway App

This just might get interesting. I put the whole farm on it this morning. One note is that at this time each cpu is limited to 240 credits an hour. Math time: quad = 4 cpu's * 240 = 960 credits an hour. I'm surprised the B's haven't jumped on this.

    From the home page.....

    News Credit Changes
    November 3, 2008
After some discussion, we've decided to move the credit generated per workunit back to where it was, however reduce the maximum possible credit generated per hour in half -- this should keep our project in line with other BOINC projects, but not penalize people not running optimized apps. These changes should effect all newly generated work so it might take ahwile for everything to propagate out.
    --Travis

Well the almighty DA has spoken and the credits have been reduced. Now the max would be 120 per hr per core... 120 x 24 = 2880

Funny, my socket A mobile will still be getting the same as any other core

    Re: New Milkyway App

Something is going on over at MW. I haven't been able to get any work all day. Also the work in progress is down to about 17000 from the usual 60000.
Could be that the new official App. is coming or maybe some larger WU's.

MW is kicking out work again, but with yet another credit plan.
