Exclamation Nvidia Rebrand Leaked - Low End 9 Series to Become G1x0

It's been quite a while since Nvidia rebranded its cards and we were beginning to think it has dropped the habit altogether. However, several leaked ads, courtesy of German retailer MediaMarkt all but confirm the new naming scheme.

    More here.

This should not be confusing at all. I also read that the older 9800 cards were going to have their names changed to make it sound more like the 200 series cards.

You have added to the deception. Nowhere does it suggest these cards will have these model numbers. From what it looks like, all the entry level cards will be G100, while the midrange cards might be called low-numbered G200. I don't see mention of a "G300," which wouldn't make sense anyway since it would have a number greater than the dual-GPU GTX295.

Personally, I think this is stupid. Rebranding old products is the clearest indication that your company is on the ropes, and you have no answer to your competitor's products any time soon. AMD has been doing it with CPUs for a while, and we all know where they currently sit (though I'm really hoping K10.5 will pick up the pace).

    I think he meant that:

Three cards are mentioned in the ads: the G100, G120 and G130, the latter apparently being a rebranded 9600 GSO, which was in fact, a rebranded 8800 GS all along. Third time lucky it seems

If it's based on the 9400GT, then I'm guessing it won't be very fast.
