Whats a decent OC'ing mb for a 940, thinking of picking one up but have no clue whats a good AM2+ mb.
I'm guessing something with a 790 chipset and sb750 but there are quite a few variations of what look too similar. Makes it kinda hard to pick a good one out without being well versed in the differences.

I'm running my locked 8750 Toliman at 3.0GHz with the Foxconn in my sig - that's not bad.
For 790FX boards (best to use one with SB750) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...hlon%2064%20X2

Thanks for the linke UD!
I went ahead and ordered the combo I linked to, with the discount its a pretty killer deal overall especially if I get a great clocking chip.
I'll finally get to use my AM2 freezer64 cooler I accidentally bought like a year ago thinking it was s775. By the time I finally got around to using the thing it was way to late to return it so its been setting around collecting dust.
Been wanting to tinker with a phenom forever, finally PII is reason enough for me to pull the trigger, I have no will power!!![]()

So AMD just came out with a chip that's 9% faster than Intel's moldy, 2 year old Q6600 that costs over 30% less? I can hardly contain my excitement.![]()
I think we can all agree that it would have been nice to have had the Phnom II two years ago. That aside I’m glad to see AMD making a chip that’s at least competitive with equally priced Intel parts. Hopefully this is a sign of even better things to come.
As a wise man recently said (In his review here on PCP) “The Phenom II X4 940 will likely be a short lived part at the apex of AMD’s product line, as we expect to see AM3 based processors hitting the market within the next two months.”
It may be light bear with a champagne chaser, I guess we will wait and see.

Good placement of it. Right in between the i7 and the Intel/AMD quads.
