Another "for the moment" idea might be a new thread prefix that indicates the thread is indeed a "umpc" topic.

Yes, makes a lot of sense - from all perspectives.

Understand too, your comments regarding up vs. down-trickle.

Yeah. You know....about the trickle up point of view....what Im getting at.
Looking back? The most successful new forums were created in order to satisfy a "need" that was evident from activity with threads within the original "parent" forum. A handy example is our TLR forum. That forum originally was intended
to simply house all the political threads that were created at Off Topic.
So at first we tried a sub forum to the parent Off Topic Forum.
It seems to have worked because the "activity/need" was there
already as opposed to attracting new members because of its creation.

But believe me. We take any new forum spot/suggestion seriously
and this one will get all the research it warrants.

This is what I have to present to Ryan and The Wise One.
They both approach the subject differently.
Ryan is the one who gets a sense of the macro interest via his feel for the market out there.
The Wise One makes sure things make sense and facilitates
the pure mechanics of any changes.
I attempt to "horsesense" things from my own perspective which is purely
    a "forums" point of view.

Now look here. Our competition as I see it at the moment.
See what a small change has done? I see us ranked at 10
as of just now. Thats what I need to work with...so
I can give Ryan and Wise a make sense recommendation.
    One way or the next.

Just doing a simple thing by adding UMPC to a thread title bumps us up in rankings
within a reasonable search. So we take it one step at a time

OK, well UMPC Portal has big problems with bandwidth - it's slower than molasses .... and that's GOT to be limiting traffic.

The others I can't speak for.

But PCP has a massive advantage in terms of what the user experiences, which is why I suggested it could really clean up in this domain.

I'd LOVE to talk UMPC's on PCP because EVERYTHING's right about it as a forum - it really is.

We'll get there as we generate and find interest. Im not gonna leave it alone until Im satisfied weve done what we can to "capture" the interest out there.
I simply take things in chunks...so I can see what's happening and can talk to Ryan and Wise responsibly/

So go for it man. Write a thread at the available forum and generate some interest and expertise. Im with you on this.

You could begin with something generic: Everything UMPC Here

Google would pick up on it within hours.

Ive been exactly where you are now. You want a spot to share expertise/interest.
I found my spot here with Ryan and have never looked back.

Ryan also has great "reach" with things he might latch onto.
    As we see here

Re: Time for a dedicated UMPC section ?

    Thanks for the encouragement, J.

Think I'll get right on it.

BTW, UMPC Portal's forums have the bandwidth issue - the rest of the site doesn't seem to be afflicted.

The best site for UMPC coverage I've seen to date is JKK Mobile's - but it's purely a blog, not a forum.
