Bump that CPU voltage up to just under 1.4 and see if you can hit 3.6 with your processor. I am with my x3 720 BE. Unfortunately, my 4th core is bad...but I am super happy with the performance.

I am using a slightly bigger cooler (Xigmatek Dark Knight), but my temps are AWESOME ( 2 hour 100% CPU stress test on all 3 cores and had a max temp of 42C ) on this chip.

Once I hit 3.6 and super stable, I never tried to go higher.

Absolutely great $/performance with these 720BE processors.

At work they tease me and say "Two processors just isn't enough..and 4 is just way too many!"

I brought my PC in to work for some L4D action and the teasing seemed to stop.....

There is a bios to unlock the 4th core on that motherboard. It worked on my Phenom II 720. Unfortunately it wasn't stable, so i just turned off the special option. I got my voltage at 4.75 for 3.7Ghz on that cpu.

heres what i would recomend currently(what i have on my list to buy in the next 2 months)

    gigabyte 790x board(am3
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128378

    phenomII 550
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103680

Crucial ddr3(this stuff overclocks insainly high by reports from a friend of mine on TPU talking on his i7 rig he got them to around 2gz!!!)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148150

and dispite the board being a crossfire board I plan to go with

a gtx260 c216, I have my reasions, the main one being that cuda apps are coming out faster and faster and one of the ones I have been using badaboom is KICKASS, it encodes h264 video at 150-260fps using at most 9% cpu(check the review here on pcper) and quilitys quite good

The combo i linked will be damn good, also you could add stuff like the below

Kingwin 730watt psu(from what i found, its made by FortronSource Power!!!)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817121045

    Hitchi 1tb hdd
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145233

this is all good stuff, I have owned/used alot of kingwin psu's and only 1 ever failed, and that was due to it being severly abused, it was in an office full of smokers in a closit that was very dusty, the psu was FULL OF DUST and SMOKE particals, and it still lasted over 4 years of constant use!!!

the mobo can unlock cpu's(the 790fx version dosnt seem to do this....but it may just be to small a sample size)

Honestly tho, the stuff above is what im going for due to bang for the buck, it WILL let me get a nice overclock even if i cant unlock the cpu, and it will give me a bit of a boost over this current setup.

    my current rig

Biostar ta770a2+(non-se) with latist bios(moded adding slic)
    AMD Athlon64 x2 6000+@3.4gz(windsor f3)
ThermalRight ultra90+120mm dell panaflow ultra high speed fan@60@(speedfan)
    BFG 8800gts 512mb@ 755/1900/2100
    6gb mixed ddr2, 2x2gb wintec ampx ddr2-800 and 2xDell hitchi ddr2-667 sticks all at 1135 with 5-5-5-18 timings trfc at 127ns(2.1volts)
    promise ata100 card
    1x160gb seagate sata2 drive(cant remmber model)
    2x500gb seagate 7200.11 drives
    1x250gb maxtor
1x200gb maxtor ata drive(on the promise card)
    2xDVD burners
BFG 650watt ToPower PSU(sli certifyed) i got a kickass price on this and a life time warrinty so i grabbed it!!!.

I still can run whatever i want, so I havent rushed to replace this rig, Im looking at upgrading because we have some $ coming in and I will beable to effectivly build a 2nd rig and keep this one at least partialy in tact(may put the 8800gts 512 in the 2nd pci-e slot on the new system and use it as a detocated physx/cuda card
