It has the 710 SB and ACC in the BIOS.
Checked manufacture site and it did not list the 550 as supported so I emailed them that question.
But someone reviewed the the 550 on the 770 MB OC'ed to 3.8 at Newegg but didn't mention trying to unlock it.

Thanks for the reply.I gave up and got a GA-MA790X-UD4P this morning.Been trying to find out for a couple days, but couldn't find anybody that successfully unlocked anything with it.They don't list the 550 CPU as supported and Gigabyte still hasn't replied to my email if it did. Were you able to just enable ACC and your 720 unlocked without anything else or modded a BIOS?
nope no modded bios just be sure to grab the lastest bios and flash it ( check out my MA770T thread for unlocking info) http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=463872

I just tried this and so far it has not worked. You can unlock it and the boot BIOS will show it as an X4 but then it crashes (freezes) at the startup of both XP and Windows 7. I'm still looking for suggestions for anything else I could try to get the cores unlocked, or at least unlock one more core and have an X3. I did just start this last night so have not had a lot of time to play with settings yet.
It works great as an X2 though! And at 3.1 GHz it is still a VERY fast CPU!
What BIOS version are you using?
What stepping is the 550?
^^^
I'm at work right now, not at my PC so I cant look. I just dled the very latest BIOS out on Gigabyte's site. And I do not know what stepping....![]()
I'm a bit new to this which is why I'm asking for any help you guys can give me.
Under th ACC I had all 4 cores set to -2 if thats what you mean... And it was not stable. Again running just the 2 cores works great!
It's just luck to get a stable one but I've seen a lot of people getting lucky.
The stepping may shed some light.
I chatted with 2 people that unlocked on this MB, one had a 720BE and the other a 550BE.
BIOS version may be important too, rumor has it that AMD is pressuring Gigabyte to remove the unlock ability from their BIOS's.
What date does the BIOS release say at Gigabyte?
Here is a good thread at a great forum to check out.
I think I have this same thread there too.

Can you explain the stepping to me?
And the BIOS version I have seems to be fine, I can unlock the extra cores and when I boot up it shows it as an X4.... Its just not stable and will freeze as soon as you see the XP or Win7 logo. Also I tried to reinstall XP with all 4 cores on and even the installer will freeze as soon as it says "starting Windows".
Can someone explain to me what the settings under the ACC do? You have a range of +12 to -12 and the default is -2. You can set them manually and make the numbers different for each core...
What is this doing? Are negative #s faster or slower? Setting it to 0, does that turn the core off? How would I try running just 3 of the 4 cores?
Thanks
Ahh I see. So it looks like I'm just going to have to live with an X2. I guess I could try to under clock it to 3.0GHz or 2.9GHz and see if all 4 cores will run stable...
That about all I can think of.
Did you leave it to default settings and locked to 2 cores for your initial start up and was it stable?
