How many watts does DDR3 RAM consume?

Hi. Does anybody know how many watts a stick of DDR3, ECC, registered RAM consumes? I do no overclock, so I will be using the factory setting of 1.5v. Also, is the wattage consumption affected by the speed (e.g. 1066 or 1333) and amount of memory in the stick, and things like ECC or registered? Thank you.

The supply voltage for the memory technology is being reduced from 1.8 volts for DDR2 to just 1.5 volts for DDR3 targeting a work day equivalent of battery time. The voltage reduction limits the amount of power that is consumed and heat that is generated in connection with the increase in bandwidths. The link contain all information and you can also buy any type of memory from there

I found a power calculator at Dell's web site. http://essa.us.dell.com/DellStarOnli...8-18f9052df893

Not for desktops, but could be useful.

One example, 4 4GB RDIMMs use about 16 watts. I think the speed was configured for DDR3-1333

I have been looking for some DDR3 memory and power consumption is always on my mind when choosing PC stuff.

The Samsung green 4GB none EEC 1600MHz modules at 1.35V use about 1.65 watts. Higher voltage and larger fabrication techniques will use more power.

Honestly with today's large power supplies, even the cheap 400-500 watt psu's have more than enough power to accommodate as much ram as you can pack in a board.
