They're western digital caviar black editions. They're in RAID-1, or redundancy mode because I don't like HDD failures / am data paranoid.

Well I just purchased a OCZ Vertex and the thing is only slightly faster than my 7200 hard disk in booting the system... either I have issues or it was not worth spending £140 on! I was told these things would change your life! hehe

What's the rest of your system like? Are you at least on a tri core? Do you have 3 or more gigs of RAM?

Give us the rest of the parts.

My crappy OCZ summit is way faster then WD 750 Black, not even close.

I just installed a x25-m 80gig. Went with intel because of the reviews I read. Previously using Raptors in Raid 0. Very noticible improvement. Ordered the retail box, but the 3.5" adapter would not work in my Lian case that has rails for the hard drive's.

The link you posted to a review at anandtech is an older one, read the newer one on storage on that site about the OCZ Vertex 2 pro.

It's no big deal to maintain the drive, no more that a HDD, but we'll see how it goes in the long run.

    Sweet,

You bought the best. I think Intel worked out the whole GC trim problems that OCZ has been having.

    Re: SSD Time Yet?

^^^Has the new samsung firmware for TRIM improved anything for SSD users with samsung controllers?

Just curious cuz I'm trying to decide between an OCZ Vertex 120 and a Corsair 128GB. I'd prefer corsair for the customer, but its a samsung.

    Re: SSD Time Yet?

It depends on the chipset and parts. I turned trim off.

Lots of reading at OCZ about the subject but OCZ has given up on the drive because they are not selling it anymore.

    Check this samsung link:

    http://www.samsung.com/global/busine.../business.html

Unless the corsair is cheap go vertex, its a better drive. I thought corsair wasn't selling the drive anymore either.

    Linky:

Agility & Vertex are Indilinx controllers with vertex being the faster drive.

Solid uses Jmicron, you want to stay away from not sure about solid 2.
