    New Laptop Recommendations

Wow, it's been along time since I was a regular around here, time for a laptop and need some help.

I had an ACER a few years back - single core, XP had lots of problems.

Wife has a Toshiba C2D w/ Vista home prem 64bit, it's ok, not a huge fan of Vista but I'm not going to be installing *nix on a new laptop.

    Under $1,000
online or brick and mortar no preference
    Large screen is desired.
AMD - Intel - IDK what are your thoughts for mobile computing?
long battery life would be good, but not likely w/ a large screen
    Wireless N mandatory
Blueray would be nice, not necessary
SSD? has it come far enough to consider it? 7,200 rpm if not SSD
ram, the wifes has 4gb will vista 64 even run on less?
Video - not necessary but would be nice
Am I missing any thing? I'll probably get a kb/m combo, I don't like typing on laptops. ergonomic kb would be awesome, are any laptops better for real typing?

Not a big gamer, but don't want any thing too slow either, mainly for online school, the desktop will be turned over to the kids.

Thanks for any and all recommendations, conversation.

almost bought this one for the sife this past friday, the only thing it doesnt have that you are looking for is a 7200 rpm hd, but the price is pretty decent.

I got her the 15.6 screen size of this one for 599, (pinching pennies these days)
go check it out, might fit your bill

    Thanks for the reply.

From what I've found I think I'm leaning toward a sony vaio w/ bluray for a little more. It's got all of what I'm looking for at $1,049 and the closest I come w/ out bluray is 799 but seems to be lacking other desired features (main one is 32bit vs 64. I've looked at refurbs but w/ the windows7 upgrade looming, new seems to make more sense. W/ the cost of ram that seems to be one of the least important features out of the box.

At my local exchange I found 2 vaios and an HP dv7 w/ bluray that I'm considering. I need to go back and see if any have a 7200rpm. One has a 12 cell battery that would be nice.
