    Suggestion time again.

Time for ideas about what to run for POTM next month. I'll put up the poll Friday.

    Re: Suggestion time again.

Here comes my suggestion and it should make most of the people happy. I suggest we run Collatz. It is fairly new. It has plenty of work. It has standard apps for Win 32, Win 64, Cuda, Cal and Linux. It has Opti apps avaiable for download from it's site. It seems to me that it's got something for everyone. I'll put a Cuda system on it tomorrow to see how it runs. Of course if we're gonna do this we'll need a team.

Sounds like you found a nice little nugget Red. Hopefully it turns out to be golden.

If nothing else gets suggested, I'll be happy to try it.

As a trial, I put 2 quad Cuda machines on it about 23 hours ago running both CPU and GPU. So far just over 10,000 credit and at least that much pending.

From now on I'm attaching the poll to the suggestion thread instead of starting a new one.

    Sounds good Red.

BTW, have you noticed any issues with Collatz yet?

The only issue I have with it is that I don't like pending credit but it's a fact of life with some Boinc projects.

Anyone successfully using an ATI card with Collatz?

From what I've read you need the new boinc client 6.10.0 which supports ATI cards. It's available here.

I'm not having any luck with 6.10.0 yet. BOINC detects the HD3200 ok but Collatz is only sending me CPU work. I double checked my preferences and I have both CPU and GPU work selected.

From what I just read you will need to download the opti app from here. It will still need to be installed similar to Milkyway. The automatic versions for ATI are having problems.

Since it seems like we're going to do Collatz, I have a feeling it could be a very good month. Not only does it have Cuda and ATI support but I had planned to turn the farm back on on the 1st. I'm planning on putting every thing except 2 old rigs running Milkyway on it. We're currently 32nd in total credit and I would be willing to bet we wind up in the top 10.

I cranked up the farm today and except for 2 old machines running Milkyway I put everything to doing only Collatz. I just hope everything holds up. Catch me if you can.
