Re: What Is Your Favorite GA / Commercial Post 1950 Aircraft?

Yeah, they were THE cadillacs of the business jet world back then, may still be today for all I know. Their mentality resembles Lockheed's in that "you got the bucks, we'll give you whatever you want". Jezuz I was almost 6 feet tall back then and never once had to stoop even a little to get it or walk around in it. Wide-body design. Included a wet bar, custom wall and ceiling paneling, lighting, jesus you name it. Even posh camodes for wide-arse execs. Most of us peons flew the same ones they got.

Engines were a real trip, big quiet ultra high bypass turbofans, things accelerated like a bat out of hell and got off short runways in a hurry. Now ya know why I look forward to my monthly company trips to northern Cali or Colorado

Yeah Bell really got their money's worth out the UH-1 / 205 model. Was medicaled out before I had the opportunity to fly / ride in one!

Sorry it took so long for me to chime in...

    Fave's... Ok....

Anything Mooney. They're the corvette of single piston engine aircraft now, with that Acclaim type S out. 333kts indicated at FL250. Screamin!.....

Next? Beechcraft King Air 350. Twin 1000hp turboprop. Gorgeous interior. 300 kt cruise. Yummy!

Business jet? Anything GULFSTREAM! The Cadillac of corporate aircraft nowadays.

Lastly, my ultra favorite is the Cirrus Designs SR22 GTS. Again, gorgeous interior, side stick, glass panel display, 310 hp, constant speed prop, and beautiful lines.

Yep, the one in my sig.....

There is one SWEET Super King Air in the hangar right now. I heard it was bound for Texas because no one is flying charter right now. I'll get some pics tomorrow, didn't have my camera with me today. I've got to go get the Skyhawk ready for my trip on Monday. Yep! 3 days of just me, the water, and the airplane. Should be VERY restful.

Sounds good!! Just the guy I need to be reading this even though you're too young to remember.

My love of planes and especially GA twins goes back to the TV series "Sky King" and his Songbird which I think by that time was a Cessna 310B. Is that correct?

Re: What Is Your Favorite GA / Commercial Post 1950 Aircraft?

    Just did some research...

You're right. They did use a Cessna 310. The show started with a Cessna t-50.

Evidently, the 310 is affectionately known as the "Songbird" around the community, to this day....

Here's a spot to watch the episodes....

And, yes, I'm a little to young to remember...

Just did the intro to episode one and had to break bad and hit google! Seems the first a/c used was a Cessna T-50 then the 310B.
