I'm just wondering. Should I use the 64-bit version of Windows 7? I heard that it is faster. (My System Specs show that my computer can support it)

I would do 64 bit version if your hardware supports it. What are your system specs?

no good reason to install 32 bit operating systems anymore so long as our hardware supports 64bit.
chances of running across a compatibility issue are slim to none.

That's a good thing!
Another question: My computer came with some software (Microsoft Works, etc.) and some of them are not trialware junk. Is it possible to have them back (i won't touch the recovery partition)? If so then where can I get HP Update and the Recovery Manager back?
Kyle

here's the link for the HP Recovery Manager download

For a free office, try openoffice.org. Has more functionality than Works, and compatible with all the new extensions (.docx)
According to http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=30786 the T5250 does not supports VT.
VT is important for a Win7 64Bit build if you need Win XP mode to run any legacy apps or USB devices (Scanners, Cameras, old PDAs, etc. I use it for all three)
P.D.

Run faster and further then you've ever run before!!
It's too much work to update my specs in a sig, it's a 6 core budget build. If you must know, it's in my profile.

I would use this http://www.go-oo.org/ its OpenOffice.Org with some tweaks/updates, it supports MS formats a bit better then stock OOo.
OpenOffice is FAR FAR better then MS Works, and its updated regularly(Free) So you dont need to buy a new version every couple/few years to keep compatible with what other people are using.
and x64 all the way, I havent run a 32bit version of windows in years
well on my home system, on the work box, thats all they can run at the moment :P
I had an old (like from 2000) version of Works. I had trouble converting the files to something that OpenOffice could open but I finally got it done. I was motivated by my desire to upgrade to Win7 but NOT continue using WorksHad to convert the database WDB files to spreadsheets though. Not as nice. Maybe some day I can figure out how OO does databases with forms and such.

yeah, i had a client who had used works all the way back to version 1, when he decided to convert over, OI that was a chore, I finnely found a conversion tool that would convert works files to other formats (newer office formats), then we converted them to work on word perfect(what he moved to) it was a PITFA tho, and the converson app was accurate, but REALLY REALLY SLOW, and requiered that you have works and ms office's current version installed to work(slow because from what it said, it checked between the to in order to be sure the conversion was accurate)
why ms cant support their own formats in all their own apps i dont know......
FYI OpenOffice on Windows is 32bit (it runs under WOW64)

Although 64 bit support is still way behind hardware. I would still invest in the x64 version because you can just run XP mode if you run into any issues.![]()
