who all here is for health care but just not by our current government?

i mean seriously? if the government would make health care universal for all and were to solve all the cost issues and if people would make SOME effort to take care of themselves (they're not gonna do that free or no many of them.... but oh well)... and would make it to where you could still get the private stuff if you wanted it for whatever reason, would you be for government run health care?


one argument i hear is that r&d would go down. i have a hard time believing that. i would think it would stay the same or maybe be spent on things that actually cure problems instead of just symptoms.

I hate bureaucracy... Government or Corporate and would like to Health insurance die as a whole. Its just a scam used to seperate the true cost from the individual and drive up the price. I would like to see health care in general... collapse while im still fairly young and in good health and have it return to a sustainable system. Everyone else be darned... If i smoke( which i do) and am unable to cover the cost when inevitable effects catch up and pass its my own doing. I would hate to pay for other peoples health care to have a bureaucrat tell me the money I put in my whole life will be used to provide health care for someone contributing more to society(younger with a job). The unwillingness of some folks to die is expensive remove the bureaucrat and let them live and die by thier own means ... to me its every mans right to fight to live but its immoral to expect someone else to foot the bill.

There is accident insurance which is cheaper and there is knowledge of preventative medicine. Use the money youll save and setup investments that you can cash in when you need them. That what the health insurance companies do anyway.

so, if some drunk hit a runs you at a cross walk, the hospital should just let you die because you can pay for the life saving procedures needed to save your life? what about rehabilitation? they should just let you sit about cripple and unable to work when they could fix you, just because you don't have the money?

that's agreeable to some extent, but what if they were to make an honest and effective effort to control costs? the serious stuff gets paid for one way or another... cancer, accidents... etc. we can either pay for them with medical bills or pay for them with lost productivity in the work place....

and abuse is already rampant in the private system. many procedures they tell you that you need really aren't needed. they just like making money off of you and that's no secret.


further more, should TRUE emergency care be paid for by the government? what about rehabilitative care afterwards?

biased? hypothetical is more like it. if we had a half decent government i think this would be possible. and why are you so defensive anyway? first you ignore half my question. then you tell me that my full question is crap. i mean, they could, if they wanted to, provide everyone with health care and cheaply so. the only reason it's costing so much is because of the pharma and doctor interests that want to keep up insane profit levels. while i do agree that the current bill is crap and will only lock in profits for those two sectors, if the government were to take over and honestly do it in our best interest, and still leave insurance options for the moneyed, why not? everyone deserves health care.

the problem is that not everyone gets health care (even though we spend over TWICE as much per capita as any other country)... how do we fix that? how do we make it to where everyone can get the care they need (as in actually need... not antibiotics for a cold and to go to a doc for every booboo)?

i figure the only real way to do it is to make it easy to bankrupt on med care if you truly can't afford it... and make it to where it leaves no mark on your record. why should someone be punished for being in an accident but merely not being paid enough to afford that accident?

I think there are a few easy things that could and should be done to help the health care system. However I will never support a "public option" or whatever you want to call it. We need to CUT costs so we can LOWER taxes so we can not turn into a third world country.
