Windows 7 slow file transfer speeds?

Anyone else noticed a big reduction in file transfer (copy or move) speeds between Win XP Pro and Win 7 Pro? In particular, I'm tranferring files between my hard drive (u320 scsi) and external usb drive.

I noticed REALLLYYYYY slow transfer speeds myself. Especially USB. Thought I imagining things.

I really don't know how slow...but I can tell you that it took over 4 hours for aboout 3 GB to a USB drive.

That's USB-1.1 speed. USB-2 driver is prolly not functioning.

How do I confirm USB-2 driver is active or not? It's a Western Digital 500GB USB drive.

hmm, where to find usb 2 drivers? how do I even check if my drivers are usb 2 or usb 1? my mobo is a svga, and I did download all the updated drivers, nothing changed....just as slow as before. It worked just fine before windows 7.

this is driving me nuts. LOL

    THANKS!!!

I know nothing about Win-7. In previous versions it's in device manager under USB controllers. USB-2 is called "USB Enhanced Host Controller". If it's not there then you have USB-1.1.

...just wondering if you're using Win7 64bit? That's what I'm using and wondering if it's a USB 2.0 64-bit driver issue? Still not sure how to determine if USB 2.0 is active or not.

must be a driver issue, these are my typical transfer speeds for win 7 64bit:

    usb:25MB/s
    esata: 80MB/s
    RJ45: 8-10.5MB/s (on 100Mbps connection)
