It looks like he's in a lot more trouble then just for running Seti. Stolen computers, lack of completing his duties at work, didn't discuss the needs of others when purchasing hardware/setting up policies.

I never had a problem getting my previous boss and fellow employees to run the original Seti client or the Genome project on their computers (although a few disagreed with the idea of Seti its self). But after switching to BOINC, it seemed to interfere with one of the programs we had so I ended up removing it from nearly all the computers. I removed it from the rest of them once I quit that job.
