How many games are done in DX 11 right now? Since it makes such a big 'differance'(youtube link spelling), surely everything is being done in that and its advantages won't get stuck in marketing videos right?

More then half of the big titles of next year are all DX 11......

Ohh and, why on earth are you trying to discredit that video cause if its spelling? Which on top of that is not my fault......

Face it every friggen time a new DX comes out I hear what your saying. And maybe only with DX 10 would you have had a valid point, but thanks to vistas horrible reception it never took off....
Now with Win 7 and the big titles I mentioned before its gonna be a diferent story, this is the biggest DX transition since DX 8 and the Geforce 3

List of games with DirectX 11 support

    . . .
    BattleForge
    Dirt 2
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
    . . .
Not that it does not look better. But by the time most games support it, all video cards will support it also. Then the marketing folks will be pimping the advantages of DX12.

Not impressed sry. They obviously spent more time desgning DX11 than they did on the DX10 version of that demo/benchmark. It reminds me of what they did when Far Cry 64 was released... Smoke and mirrors my friend. Smoke and mirrors.

I tend to agree. yes it will have the capability to have better wire frames, but will developers take the extra time to detail all that. I guess it comes down to the tools used and if they can wire frame for 11 as quickly as they could for 10.

Do you work for microsoft now? Or is this still a pitch for ATI's current line of vaporware? DX11 is nice. So was DX10 and DX9 etc. However I dont intend to get excited about version upgrades. I am more interested in the games that use it rather than it. Design quality and graphics are more up to the manufacturers then they are up to microsoft.

    • Will xbox 360 or ps3 support dx11, since PC gaming devs are not putting the time into games that can be hacked on pc?
    • How much does implementing DX11 onto a game add to the cost?
    • Will adding DX11 onto a PC game that will be cracked in 24 hours be adventagious to the company as far as revenue?

Re: DX 11 vs DX 10.... for the skeptics

I'm sorry but that demo blows to begin with.

Doesn't look impressive IMO. Although it does show the difference....it's not a "MAJOR step" in graphics.

And as other have said, it's up do developers to use the tool and create amazing graphics for the game. Will they do it?

Crysis is what? 3-4 years old now? Still probably one of the best engines out there.

Good example of POOR development IMO is Modern Warfare 2. I'm willing to bet that Activision/IW are still using original COD engine that has been revised. Game has COD written ALL over it and IMO the graphics are not impressive.

It will be interesting to see who will be the next to set a new milestone in graphics department. 10 years ago I thought graphics would be movie like at this point, we are still NO WHERE near that. Heck IMO Graphics advancement has been VERY poor.

That demo is cool no doubt. But it's not entirely representative of the difference. It only shows that if you take advantage of programmable tessellation you can get more detailed objects with
better performance. Theres nothing stopping them from using more detailed models in the Dx 9 / 10 path other then possible performance issues.

So then I guess PC gaming is doomed cause games get cracked?Gimme a break:
    1) Little do the imbeciles that use/download crackz (and ive said this before and Ill say it again) know that the crack from their favorite "leet" group usually had embeded malicious code and or the website they get it from will also infect them....

    2) In any case ever try playing a cracked game online? The "big" money makers for devs are usually highly replayable due to multiplayer. You think blizard and activision are losing that much due to piracy?

Last I checked, WoW, Blizzards mmrpg was dx8. Maybe 9 now. Definitly not dx10 and never will be dx11...

So then I guess PC gaming is doomed cause games get cracked?Gimme a break:
Who said it was doomed? As usual, Poci, you take the high road to being inflamatory and an instigator. Stop acting like you have a private stake in dx11, and start contributing to the conversation. We all want dx11, OR BETTER. Someone offers some valid questions and you get all hurt and dodge them all. Seriosuly man, what are your opinions on what I asked?

MW2 is a great example of a game dev taking the easy way out, knowing it would be cracked in under 24 hours. Should they have spent an extra 3 months of time (AND money) to add dx11 to make it look better knowing it was going to be cracked regardless and they were going to sell the same amount?

    1) Little do the imbeciles that use/download crackz (and ive said this before and Ill say it again) know that the crack from their favorite "leet" group usually had embeded malicious code and or the website they get it from will also infect them....
A format/reinstall is not that hard to do once you have played a free game and saved $50.

A lot of my customers have never paid for a game, most have more then one computer, using one specificly for cracked wares to avoid contaminating the network. I play a lot of these games when visiting on their own networks - we are talking about 20-60 people on one server, playing Bf2, 2142, etc etc. Its amazing what military personal have done to not have to pay for games. All on Uncle Sams dollar and education.

Honestly, the same person that is intelligent enough to find the right sites and manipulate the wares to even work, have a good strong grasp of security as well.

    vaporware? lol
Yes thats generally what it is considered when you advertise something that isn't there. There are 2 5870s available on newegg right now but I dont expect that to last long and for the past couple months it has been basically completely unavailable. The 5890 turns up 0 results. I know it's TSMC's fault mostly but it's still vaporware.

So then I guess PC gaming is doomed cause games get cracked?Gimme a break:
No but it is the number one reason why devs go console instead of PC.

    1) Little do the imbeciles that use/download crackz (and ive said this before and Ill say it again) know that the crack from their favorite "leet" group usually had embeded malicious code and or the website they get it from will also infect them....
LOL do you work the the BSA/MPAA/RIAA/ETC now too?? I wont say anything "specific" but if you are a halfway competent pirate visiting the correct "areas" this is not an issue. The credible release groups and websites do not do this...
    2) In any case ever try playing a cracked game online? The "big" money makers for devs are usually highly replayable due to multiplayer. You think blizard and activision are losing that much due to piracy?
Theres actually quite a few that work online. Almost all games will work on cracked servers. Blizzard probably isn't losing money (even though there are cracked WoW servers) but activision? Definitelly.

Denial is not just a river in egypt you know
No, it is also a skill you possess.

Sure thats why Crytek made the new Cryengine for Crysis 2 in DX 11

Yeah? Not because of DX11 though, Because of CRYTEK.

    OMG

The reason I mentioned those games was due to them being the top 2 online games not whether they should use DX 11 or not....
And the millions of copies they have sold are to play online. The cracked versions are not playing online......

No its not hard but its a pain in the butt and to me its worth more then 50$.
In any case gimme a break, what so now we should all pirate games with the excuse of a clean format after doing so?

Real geniuses, setting up a LAN at home just to play pirated games on other computers that are not your main rig? Care to compare the hardware costs compared to just buying the friggen game and putting it on your main workhorse?

I thought you meant vaporware as in something that disapears cause of no demand.
Truth is whats happening is the opposite with DX 11 cards, the demand is too HIGH.
