Hardware reserved and memory remap Help

    HI
I have the 4core1333 full hd motherboared with.
To cut a long story short I have tried 64 bit op systems xp and win 7. They both reserve almost half my 6gig of memory for hardware.
I have tried memory remap(this makes the blue screen appear on boot) and msconfig maxmem settings.
Onboard graphics and a 256mb card, no difference.
It says in the manual that 'due to chipset limitation the max mem may be limited to less than 4gig..reserved for system usage under xp 'etc
Is this an issue with the board? Basically am I stuck with a board that will hold back a whole bunch of my memory or is there a fix for this.
I have 1.7 bios which is up to date.
Thanks in advance for any help. This is really really bugging me.

Could you enter your system information into the space for that in your User CP then enable viewing of it? Or could you make a detailed signature listing all of your parts? This will help others answer this and future questions, and you only need to do it once. As an example of the level of detail we need, you can click on my system dropdown or look at some of the others you see here. Thanks.

the way this reads to me is you MUST use identical memory modules; in all 4 slots

for your reference here is the manufacturer driver page

What amount of memory is windows seeing ?
Can you post a screenshot of your system information>system summary.
    Is windows just seeing
    3712 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
If so it sounds as if mmettin is correct and you are only seeing the 2x 2gb sticks or only 1gb in each slot minus some memory reserved for various devices and onboard video ( 256mb??)

Re: Hardware reserved and memory remap Help

I have this exact problem fixed ! With Gigabyte p55a ud3r and Kingston KHX1600C9D3K4/8GX.

When you buy ram, you get them in pairs, as it turned out each pair/memory stick can only work on memory channel 1 or memory channel 2.

If you put a pair of memory that designed to work only on channel 1, on channel 2 (like I did unknowingly). The Bios only recognizes them, "BUT" not made available to use.
Windows 7 can only see the total ram installed (in my case 8GB), but can't make use of the other 4GB on memory channel 2, and
Windows 7 thinks the 4GB memory are "HARDWARE RESERVED".

So I advices you to switch them up between the memory slots, like I did, and now I only have 5 MB HARDWARE RESERVED instead of 4GB like before when I put the ram sticks on the wrongs slots/channel.

And now, have a joyful day !

Has anyone noticed this post is over 6 months old? Furthermore, the board is so old that it will never recognize 8 gigs of memory. It's just like a 32 bit board.
