Cool Another FRN2-RL bites the dust!

Hello fellow Soltekers. Been some time since I posted here.

Well, the FRN2-RL (ver.E3) which I bought as a refurb from NewEgg for $19 over 5 years ago just bit the dust. Typical leaking caps by the CPU socket.

No complaints here! The board lived almost it's entire life running in the overclocked configuration seen below - with an OCZ DDR booster powering the RAM. Even spent a couple years running 24/7 as a dedicated gaming server.
The system can be seen in the link in my sig below.

Fortunately I had another FRN2-RL (ver.E3 gold) ready to go. A quick Mobo swap and I am up & running again.

And I still have an unused ver.AP (gold) with the newer caps and board layout still in the box. Was hoping for a purple FRN2, but a Golden Flame is always good.

At this point I would like to thank some of the regulars here for recommending Soltek all those years ago when I was looking to build my personal nForce2 system. Very durable boards. By the way ... almost none of the several Abit NF7 and ASUS A7N8X systems I built for others back then are still running. And none of them were overclocked.

Re: Another FRN2-RL bites the dust!

Just checked my very first FRN2-RL (ver.D), which I bought from New Egg for $92. This system resides in my garage & was only OCed briefly soon after purchase.

No issues as yet but seems the same caps by the CPU socket are starting to bulge at the top same as the aforementioned E3 board. Guess I may be using that newer ver.AP board sooner than expected.

Daughter is still running Graphics artist apps on her purple which runs 24/7 since purchased and its OCd as well. Replaced the power supply a while back but the purple is just like new. No cap problems either as the board was a late release.

    Cool

Seven years of daily use and the second ver.E3 board mentioned above bit the dust. No leaking caps this time. Simply won't post.

Decided to finally bust the virgin ver.AP (right) out of mothballs for a nForce2 retro build.

I loved those Soltek boards, I had both of them.

A while back I posted about my Purple Ray dying of bulging caps.
