How to burn music (Without Windows media player)

Sorry if it the wrong sort of post for this forum.

But what is the correct way to copy music to a disk without using the windows media player.

(ie..i have aparticular folder which has10 mp3 songs in it, now what is the correct way of getting these onto the disk, CD-R so that they will play in most music players.

I must be making a mistake somewhere, or not "checking" a particular tab.

I have just selected the files to burn, then i selected the burn tab, then then disk starts to format, but its obviouly not formatting it to play in CD players

Thanks for any of your replys

you will need to make them a wav file if your trying to play it in a cd player that does not have .mp3 support.

I think he is having problems with the format of the music not playing in his players, from what he posted.

In your burning software, you need to select Audio CD as opposed to Data CD. If you just do a straight burn to disc, you're merely creating an MP3 CD. If you want it to play in CD players that don't support MP3/WMA, you'll need them to be converted to CDA format. After you select "Audio CD", when you dump the tracks on there, you should see the burning software converting them. If you don't see that, you're not doing it properly. Audio CD's also display capacity in terms of minutes (eg. 74 mins / 80 mins) as opposed to data volume (650MB / 700MB).

Some players might not like CD-R discs or might be fussy with which ones they will play. Worth noting. So if your disc doesn't play in one device, try another

Great, so this would allow me to burn the songs to disk, so that they would play on most CD players, that will play CD-Rs

Yes, i can do them through WMP, and they will play on any Cd player, but i wanted to know , how you do it without WMP.

OK, i try this again, and check what options are available.
So as long as i select audio CD, i should look out for what you described.

    what he posted.
I haven't fully figured nero out just yet, I've just got to know how to burn audioCDs.
But does it burn ISO images to disk as well.

Or would this come under the tutorial "compiling data" i have just done a search and found it a bit confusing, some say it does and other's say it doesen't.

Re: How to burn music (Without Windows media player)

When you first open Nero, you should see a section which outlines which type of disc you want to burn. If you're not using Nero StartSmart, it should be on the left of the first window that pops up when you open Nero - however, if you downloaded the link that hunter4u posted, you probably won't see it.

As per that link, it is restricted:
This version of Nero 9 contains simply data burning and disc copying features for CDs and DVDs. Additional features and functionality are available with an upgrade to Nero 9 full version.
With regards to ISO images, the easiest way to do that is to right-click the ISO file and select Open With > Choose Program". Tick the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" then select Nero and click the OK button. That way when you double click ISO files in future, it opens in Nero and all you have to do is slap the disc in and click Burn

    Thankyou Mjolnir.

So i am restricted with this version of nero, not a problem, i thought this was the case but was just checking.
So your quote above refers to the full version....

Thats cleared that one up then.
    Thankyou again, Mjolnir

Or Nero Express, which will do the job just as well as the full version. Nero Express is what usually ships with boxed DVD burners. Might be worth trekking down to the local PC shop and seeing if they can sell you a copy of that rather than the full version of Nero.
