Nice but the Server people have it better with the AMD 12 Core out and priced $10 more then the Intel 980x not as fast but still 12 Cores

that is a server cpu on a server socket. it is not meant for desktop use. Also intels cpu is not 12 cores its 6 with hyper threading (6 cores * 2 threads per core = 6 core 12 thread processor)

now the big thing here is intels 6 core cpu is $1000 + the board tax + the tri channel memory tax your looking at about 1500+ just for those 3 components. amd's 6 core is a drop in upgrade for am2+ and am3 and you get away with board chip and memory for about 500. see the difference

actually yes I knew that was a Server CPU and would require a Server board. I was just more excited to see AMD pushing out those chips even though Intel has their 6 core chips out for desktops and servers.

The Price point has always been why I've gone with AMD over Intel. I just wish I could get a hold of some systems like that to test them out on Pro Video transcoders and not Adobe products

Yes I would wait for new AMD Fusion next year with 32nm instead buy AMD X6 - to save some money so I rather to wait after Xmas... it just 6 cores with turbo core so dont see any difference between the X6 and the X4 Deneb (I used X4 965 BE that run prefect).. the new 32nm core which will be new 8 core and 12 cores from 2011

1090T for sale at Newegg and Tigerdirect. Tigerdirect has a $50 rebate and 10% Bing Cashback, $220 if everything works. Just ordered one, should be here Friday.

At Tigerdirect the X6 1055T 2.8 Ghz was $150 after $50 rebate with free shipping but it's sold out now.

The X6 1090T 3.2 Ghz is $250 after $50 rebate with free shipping and is still available.

I'm in need of an upgrade and was considering the 1055T before it sold out. My X2 2.6 isn't really cutting it for Bad Company 2. I don't upgrade often so I was thinking the X6 2.8 (overclocked to 3.x) would perform well in games now and even better when future games better utilize multicore processors. But now that it's sold out I guess I have more time to think about it

i was disappointed with the review and benchmarks i saw. very underwhelming performance compared to intels offerings. although its a heck of a lot cheaper in comparison at this point. i wish amd would step their game up again. i like the company but haven't used one of their processors in years. i think im gonna hold out for this generation and just keep chugging along with my q6600 for now.

Just keep checking the board makers website for a new bios. They are rolling out now.

Cool Re: amd x6 for sale

I was really looking forward to building an AMD system again, but the reviews don't show me that I would gain anything over my current system, actually I'd lose
