    Mod retirement, sadly

    .

As of now, I 'm retiring as a Mod.

Announced that a while ago in the Staff thread to make things official.

I 'm very sorry about this, but at all things come to an end.
It has been a few years now (Modding), of good and bad.
I 'm practically online every day, but I 'm alone in the forums most of the times.
That 's also noticeable from the lack of posting in many threads ...

The slump in 'Active' Folders doesn't help, but is not the root cause.

I just think I need some time off and another home in which Folding is still looked upon as a very good thing to do, as much by the members as by the Staff !

So, I thank all of you, Folding Froggies, for all the Folding and all of the support to everyone and wish you all the best in life !
I 'll not stop Folding !

Fare well and don't stop Folding on account of us (Jester & I) stopping our contributions here ...

    Eric

Noorman, are you just ceasing being a moderator, or moving on? I'd ask you and Jester to reconsider, but you sound like its an irreversible decision. I've noticed that forum activity has gone down quite a bit, lately it seems like just you and I going back & forth.

I 'll still be a member here, but I moved Folding to another place.

They are like-minded and dedicated Folders who 've come together from other places too.

It comes close to what the Pond was when I started out Folding after I discovered what it was about and how to take part.

    That's cool, please don't be a stranger.

Are you rooting for your neighbors to the north in the World Cup final?

I 'm not a big football fan, but I like to see a good match; I watched f.e. the matches of the Dutch in the World Cup when Johan Cruyff played in their massively good team and I also saw Brazil playing with Pele and his team mates back then (don't know the year of the top of my head).

I 'm torn though; for me, the best should win in fair play (not like Maradona with his 'hand of god' goal).
I think I 'll be rooting for the Spanish team.
Our previous queen is from Spanish origin and she was more sympathetic to us Flemish than the current queen who is from Italian descent.
That might be playing a part.
We 've never been very pro the Dutch either.

But, like I said, I 'd like the best team to win in a fairly played match of good soccer

P.S.: I won't be a stranger and I can't speak for Jester, but I don't think he 'll cut all ties either

Sorry to learn of the changes, you and most other mods did a good job that was appreciated. I plan to make a few changes in my Folding habits myself but like you will still hang at this forum for technical stuff which its still fairly good at and with an interesting community..

Sorry to hear that. You and jester (and the rest of the frogs) hold a very dear place in my heart. I wish you well in whatever endeavors you choose to partake in and good health to you and your family.

And remember that once a froggie always a froggie.

    Got that right.

I'm sorry to hear the news, Noorman, as you have been one heck of a moderator and a big help to everyone here. I'll miss your contributions.

Good Luck to you and keep on folding!!

Oh Man? Now who is going to help when one of my folders takes a dump? LOL
I did the same thing a while back and went elsewhere because those I knew were disappearing. Coming back to the pond was a choice of where I learned what computers and folding were all about. It seems I do not come around much but with my new business I have little time for socializing.
Full time job, school and my business leaves little time for anything else.
Good Luck in your travels Noorman, and tell Jester I miss those days we would write of the plight of the frogs and folding.
I bid your farewell but not goodbye.
Once in a land of frogs we were alone,
Once in a land of friends we were alone.
Once in a land of folding we were one.
Once in a land of ponds we spoke of friendships.
Once in a land of friendships we shared folding.
Today as I see a friend go to another land
I am reminded of the frog who felt alone.
I am alone no more as a friend travels to another pond.
One day we all must find a path we enjoy following.
As we follow this path we find the friends
Who have reminded us it is the folding we share
    That binds us as friends.
Noorman, we are bound as friends as the frogs who were alone.
Frogs of a feather fold together
It matters not which pond they are in.
Fold for the future and the future will unfold in front of us.
I look forward to the day when I am able to say hello
To the frog Known as Noorman.
Until then, follow the path before you
It will lead you to where you want to be.
Fare thee well Noorman of the Folding Frogs,
We look forward to the day we meet again.

Sorry to see you go. I might not have a flashy ppd or a huge score, but I've been here for 6 years. In all that time the mod staff here has been nothing but helpful. You've gone out of your way to help me when I posted minor issues here. You and the rest of the mod staff will be sorely missed. Even if it means moving up a few places on the ranks, it'll be a hollower victory for it.

    .

We 'll be still around, as fellow Folders; we 'll look in from time to time.

If anyone has a problem (related to Folding or the hardware needed to do it) you can just post as before.

I appreciate that you are happy with our performance as Mods (and I suspect our way of going about it)
We 've always tried our best, but we lost too many who were the glue of the Team by their way of posting, etc. ...

It was a once in a lifetime experience; next October I 'll have been Folding for 6 years straight.

I also want you to give this news to keep in mind for 2010: later this year, F@H will celebrate it's first Decade of the Project.
I don't know what Vijay Pande has in store (although I tried to get information on that), but I 'm sure it 'll be a nice Birthday to celebrate

    Keep on Folding
