    BSOD While Installing XP

System as it now "stands"......... (Exclude all HDDs unless stated in text)

    CASE: Zalman Z7 Plus
PSU: OCZ MOD Xteme Pro 700W
    CPU: PII X4 1055T
    HSF: Zalman CNPS9900-NT
    GPU: XFX GTX 285 w/ Zalman VF-3000N
    MEMORY: F3-16000CL9D-4GBTD w/ Zalman ZM-RC1000
    HDD 1: Zalman SSD0032S1 32GB SSD (Primary)
HDD 2: WD VíRaptor 300GB[/COLOR] (Misc Apps etc)
    HDD 3: 2 x WD1001FALS 1TB (RAID 0 Storage)
    Optical Drive 1: Pioneer DVR-S18MBK
    Fan Controller: Zalman ZM-MFC3

Having some rather interesting issues trying to get the HDD loaded with the OS and it has been a total bomb. Originally was trying to do the 32GB SSD which was formatted NTFS and it seemed to not matter what I used (two different Pro & 1 Home) but it would blue screen. Began to think it might be a HDD thing so tried to do the V'Raptor.

The problem is it doesn't seem to do it in the same place and also had several "corrupt" files issues. However the one consistency with the V'Raptor is after it gets into Win XP setup (where it is actually doing the install I guess when it goes through all the BS on how great it is) and then somewhere between 10 to 20 minutes in I get...........

My guess is you have a faulty memory stick. Create a memtest boot disk on another computer and test your memory.

It is very likely to be a memory issue. I recommend you follow dirtrat's advice and run memtest on each individual RAM module.

Need to update here........tried three different sets of mem with the same results. Ran memtest on the two primary sets under consideration and both had no errors after several passes.

On a couple of other sites have had ppl suggest I slipstream SP2 or SP3 to copies of my pre-SP1 copies of XP.

Tried loading a copy of Win7 64bit for S & Gs to see what would happen and.........

It is Official.......Win7 Ultimate 64bit loads without issue. So guess that means I will definately have to slipstream my old copies of XP if I ever expect to use them again!

However now I need to learn "the new way" sooner than I wanted.

    I would look at:
    1) memory
    2) Install with SP3 - needed for large hard drive install of XP
    3) Bad CD-ROM or DVD drive not reading install disk properly.

You have number one covered so on to number two. I have used nlite to slipstream SP3 into XP. Making a new install CD was easy with that program.

Thanks, I went ahead and install Win7 which solved the issue, however I will need to do the slipstreaming as I have several "old" copies of XP.
