lol BF heroes was a good time waster but once you get to lvl 8- 12 there isnt really a point in playing anymore. you have the three best skills already and you have enough money to buy special weapons for 7 days and so on. there for not enough continued playing for me

A request from the BF4Free team:

    http://battlefield.play4free.com/en/...d.php?tid=8052

Listen up soldiers, it is absolutely imperative that you read this!

The time has come to put our game servers to the test, to really push them to their limits; here is your chance to earn your beta access like never before.

Our common goal is to reach a PCU of 10K.
What does that mean? It’s quite simple, really. PCU stands for Peak Concurrent Users. Within a certain timeframe we need to have TEN thousand people in-game - at the same time.

Our first attempt at reaching this goal will occur this weekend; to be exact, this coming Saturday, January 15th, from 19:00 - 22:00 CET (13:00 - 16:00 EDT).
Obviously we are hoping everyone will join in and help us reach this goal. However, if we don’t manage to reach our goal this Saturday we’ll have to try more drastic measures next week.

This second attempt would involve disabling game access during the week, only to enable it again during the weekend.
Most definitely not the ideal way of things, but a necessary game plan nonetheless.

We don’t see any reason to worry though; we know you, we’ve seen you in action and we know how you can all rally together to get things done!

If not before, we will see you all on the battlefield this Saturday!

That is all; you are dismissed, soldiers!

Their server "stress test" is going on right now if anyone has the urge to play. The test is from 1-4 PM EDT (New York time).

I've spent a total of 5 mins with this game so far. If I have some time I'll jump on later for a few minutes but I'm not sure.

Its BF heroes with a BF2 spin. I dont like it. Played for about 10 min. Very disappointed. I knew it wasnt going to be great being a free game...but being in beta mode isnt even a good enough of an excuse for how much this sucks.

Why not just make bf2 free to play? Seems to have the same maps.

I was going to play for a bit during the test period but I underestimated how long it would take to download the latest client. It's still downloading now and the test period is over.

I just played one round. Karkand. I understand that it's closed beta so it still very rough, nowhere near the open beta goodness. I hope that they have game entries from friends lists and stuff like that in the final version. It's a battlefield game so I'll keep trying it. Not sure if I'll buy it. But if we can make it a better game, hey, why not?

Very limited on key controls so my guess is that this will be a console game before it's a pc game. I don't know. I haven't read anything so you may all know whether it is or not. The sound is rough and so far as I could tell, non-directional. Of course you don't need that with console games. I'm Kernal_Tom in the game, in case we get on the same server during test.

If I wanted a console I'd buy a Mercedes SLK 2-seater. More fun than an X-Box!

Its a totally free game like BF heroes. Atleast bf Heroes had a niche. It was a cartoon shooter. Not to many of those out there done well. Not to mention it was very kid friendly. This game just sucks.

They couldnt charge for it. Maxed out graphics look like war rock ( terrible game). Dont know who would pay for that,.

i agree with people's assessment that play4free has console influence. i installed this game on my pc last night. first thing that i noticed was the speed of the game. there is a noticeable lag between control input and action. it reminded me of playing bf2 modern combat on the xbox 360. its sluggish.

The CLOSED beta is over. Now the beta is OPEN to everyone. As this article (dated April 4, 2011) states ...
The Battlefield Play4Free army's enlistment standards have just dropped precipitously. Electronic Arts' free-to-play, microtransaction-driven shooter today entered its open beta phase, allowing PC gamers around the world to jump into the fray.
